I ordered a HR34 a few days ago from Solid Signal...I just called...They said 2-3 weeks, which is cool...What I'm wondering, is if I will need anything special. My setup now is a HR22 and an HR24. I've got whole home service. Anyone have any idea or hints for me till I get my new HR34, BTW I'M SO FREAKIN' EXCITED!!

Thanks guys!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Will you be keeping both your current boxes? Is your whole home now supported or using Ethernet?

You will need to replace your SWMLNB -or- SWM8 multiswitch (whichever one you are using), with a SWM16 multiswitch and standard LNB. You will have 9 tuners. Either that, or you can disable one of the tuners on the HR22 or HR24 to keep it under 8.

Not exactly sure what you mean? I purchased the HR22 directly from DIRECTV, the HR24 from BESTBUY before they stopped selling recievers...

If you paid $200 or less each, you don't own them. DirecTV will want them back if they are deactivated. You can't sell those. They moved to a lease model (2006?)

They'll send a box to send the receiver back.

Call DirecTV after you install the HR34 and tell them you need a SWIM16 upgrade should be free if you're over your number of tuners.

Just because people chose to get something outside of DIRECTV does not mean that DIRECTV is obligated to install it correctly for free. I understand that some people have stated that DIRECTV has done this for free for them but it's probably the same people who would have been eligible for a discounted upgrade of equipment normally.
