Please use this thread to discuss your feelings about upcoming national HD channels.

This thread will not be as tightly moderated as the rest of the site, but here's the tradeoff... in exchange for your being able to rant a bit more, you can be assured that absolutely no one at DIRECTV will be using this thread for reference.

You can ask for all the new HD you want, but DIRECTV's marketing department knows that the 100-150 contributors to this thread are only a small part of the 18,000,000 total subscribers.

*Please remember that all forum rules are still in effect.
*Please do not "bump" this thread.
*Other threads that do nothing but anticipate HD channels for which there is no information will be closed.
*This is not a DIRECTV vs. Dish thread, there are other threads for that.
Opinions expressed by me are my own and do not necessarily reflect
those of DBSTalk.com, DIRECTV, Dish Network, or any other company.

To quote the famous Tom Robertson..

Some basic information we know will happen in this thread:

Some people will say things like:
We will never get more HD (or won't until D14 is launched)
We will never get more Basic HD (or won't until D14 is launched)
DIRECTV does not care about basic customers

These people would be completely wrong. :)

There are some people who might say:
We won't get more HD this quarter,
We won't get more basic HD this quarter,
We won't be happy this quarter (they better be speaking for themselves.) :)

These people has a slim chance of being right, at least on some of the statements. My expectation is otherwise, though I'm really not sure about basic this quarter. We got some time to find out. :)

Then we'll get people who begrudge the new premiums that I presume we'll get. Sorry, life ain't fair. :)

And people who want a particular channel in HD. Thems, I do hope get their channel in a reasonable amount of soonness. Alas, I know that many good posters here won't get their channel soon enough, but I think most of thems channels will come.

We'll get some off topic subthreads. The mods will steer the thread back, unless the subthread dies off quickly. (And thank you to thems who try to bring things back on track for us.)

So hold on, here they come. :)

Cheers,
Tom

Since it costs 2.4¢ to produce a penny, my 2¢ worth is really 4.8¢ worth.  That 4.8¢ is my own and not the 4.8¢ of DIRECTV, Dish, or anyone else for that matter.

Pretty much what I said in my Q4 post.

But I'll make it simple: I want everything in HD. Soon. :D

Honestly, I've given up anticipating new HD channels. If they come, fine, if they don't, not much we can do about it, life is too short.

We all know what we want added, its up to D* to make it happen.

Happy New Year!

Things change... :(

Last quarter's thread, I had a bunch of channels I was hoping for... and while I still hope for many of them (I no longer really care about the Encore channels since I no longer subscribe to Total Choice Ultimate), their importance is considerably less.

The only ones I TRULY still hope are coming this year are BBCA-HD, CW HD-DNS, and TV Land HD.

I don't list Chiller for the same reasons I don't list cloo HD, or several others. Though they may have been listed as becoming HD at one time, it's been several years without any new plans, so I omit them.

Is LongHorn actually broadcasting yet? I thought it was one that ESPN was just trying to get off the ground and none of the carriers were biting.

Also, there's been doubt expressed about the existence of Logo HD. Dish is the only one that lists it and some Dish customers claim it's just an up-res'd version of the SD signal. The Logotv.com website FAQ says that they aren't currently offering an HD version, but that they're working on it.

I'm not a sports fan (I have on the Falcons game today... peeking at it occasionally due to family at the game), so I don't really have many sports channels on the list. If anybody can give me RSN information, I'd gladly add it.

As for Logo, I don't know. When DirecTV started their HD expansion a few years ago, they added multiple channels which carried little to no HD programming on it. Eventually, the channels started offering more and more HD programming. Heck, unless things have changed, TCM-HD doesn't offer any HD programming yet either, but it's carried on multiple providers' systems.

LongHorn has a very small roll out. LongHorn HD even less. I think just fios in there small TX systems has LongHorn HD. fios in other areas only has LongHorn.

also LongHorn SD is also a few small cable systems in TX that don't much HD any ways.
I want CLTV / CLTV HD on direct tv.
