Yes, you are going to get additional HD channels this year. Several in the next couple of months and then more after that.

It won't be next few weeks, but barely after that..

sounds like march timeframe ish so my guess is tru tv and bbc america, given season 18 of top gear will be starting here probably late march, early april.

Satracer gives us some hope of things to come. So maybe by April we will have some additional hd to watch. Thank you sir for all of your input.

I don't get why some people think because the monthly price is going up that we shiould get more channels. When the price of a gallon of gas goes up do they increase how much gas is in a gallon, IMHO there is no correlation between the two.

See post My Setup for configuration info.

The prime suspect is Tru TV HD, since it was announced a year ago.

It's really all we have to go on at this point. The proposition of getting several new HD channels over the next few weeks is great message board fodder.:)

Notice the big beloved BBCA is nowhere on those lists. ;)

Oh brother... not this again...

I think it may have started during the early days of DirecTV. Years ago, on the rare occasions DirecTV had a price increase, one could easily point out channels that had been added, or channels added to lower priced packages.

However, the pay TV landscape is very different from those days, so people need to adjust their expectations to the new reality.

It's in fun. The forum needs counterbalance and equality for the "your channel sucks" crowd. ;)
If you stop responding to them or put them on ignore, then eventually they'll go away.

I understand. It's annoying... at least to me personally anyway. Just because a channel is popular, doesn't mean it is a quality channel, or vice versa.

Yes, it's true BBCA is a "niche" channel. However, just because it isn't as high rated as E! or the like does not mean that it wouldn't be a smart addition for DirecTV.

Take "Friday Night Lights" for instance. FNL didn't have the best ratings, but it was critically acclaimed, but it was stated that the viewers of said program had highest income on average than any other program (at least the year the story came out anyway). That made it a good get for DirecTV...

BBCA has it's fans, and has some of the best SCI-FI out there outside of Syfy. Again, I go back to my theory that nerds would be a good market to keep happy...

While I'm disappointed to say that I only know one individual who watches BBCA, I'm also pleased to say that I only know ONE person who watches E! (most would consider it torture), and I don't know a single person who watches TruTV. Obviously, that's outside the norm, but I just don't think E! has a big viewership in the South...
