Hey! We got the Baby First Channel now. Sure, it's in SD, but who needs HD channels added when DirecTV's premiering such eagerly anticipated channels like the Baby First Channel? :)

Hasn't it always been there, I think it was one of those additional cost channels

It has been there for quite a while as an extra-cost option.

Equipment includes a buncha stuff that I no longer have interest in detailing

Actually there are two "Baby" channels. Don't confuse Baby TV with Baby First.

"Baby First" was offered as a $5 per month channel before moving to PI status and becoming free. DirecTV made the same move with the same channel. The other Baby channel is produced by Fox and is available in multiple language versions. That one took the place of Baby First on DISH (with several language versions available to international channel customers).

NASA ch will be HD coming February, not sure if Directv will use bandwidth for this . I don't watch this channel any longer after they cancel the space shuttle program and anything really interesting will certainly be broadcasted by the networks.

NASA has been in HD for some time. I watch it from time to time on AMC 18 C-Band at 105W.

...Sorry did not see this had already been posted until after I wrote this.

The reason why I posted it is because it will become ONLY HD, the SD channel will no longer exist.

Yes, talked to them yesterday, when I dropped Showtime for the 2 for 1 HBO Cinemax deal. The CSR checked and saw no new HD in the forseable future.

The CSRs are usually the last ones to know. But with the Directv insiders here being silent of late, its doubtful we'll see anything "soon."

I'd look to March for an indication of Directv's HD plans. Does TruTV go full time HD, or do they just put it up long enough for the couple of early round March Madness basketball games?

The Sportsman Channel has to come online in HD. I enjoy the programming (hunting/fishing) and the HD version of those types of shows is stellar. Dish has had it for almost two years and the some of the larger cables for going on a year now.

Now that Versus is the NBC Network (or whatever) I hope they continue with their hunting/fishing programming because I enjoyed watching some of their shows in HD.

The more I read in this thread, the more I have to agree with those that think nothing will be added real soon. :(

I was hoping to see BBCA in HD really soon, but alas, that doesn't seem likely

I believe this is why the last quarterly thread of 2011 was anemic.

Perhaps 2012 and 2013 will result in a combined three to five linear HD additions of what we already have in SD. Before the next satellite launch in 2014.

ESPN's networks no longer have SD channels. What you see is the HD version letterboxed. Same for FOX News, fX, CNN, and quite a few other channels.

In the case of ESPN and FOX News/FX, they have gear at Directv's end that outputs the HD feed on one output, and converts to a SD version (letterboxed) to another. Its one feed, it just depends on where you hit it.

SD only feeds are going away slowly, but they're dying.

I want TCM in HD.

I have also heard totally unconfirmed possibly completely falisfied rumors that Disney Junior would launch in HD on Directv when it replaces SoapNet since Directv carries all the other Disney owned simulcast HD channels.

Ovation?

LOL!! Sorry... I don't get the meaning, and I figured it was only a matter of time before somebody starts interpreting, so I figured I'd get a jump start! :D

Or the music is just the sign that something big is about to happen. Tomorrow is a Wednesday. Maybe, the prelude has begun and the show will start shortly.

Nothing new from Sixto, so I doubt we'll see anything tomorrow.
