So Junior finally wins a race and what happens? He doesn't have a Hotpass channel this week at Sonoma (according to my guide it's Stewart, Biffle*, Montoya and Truex this week).

* It will be interesting to see if Boris Said tries to get payback for last year's post-race altercation at the Glen - did he ever get Biffle's home address from anyone?

(P.S. I just checked a YouTube clip of Said's post-race comments - we probably won't see anything on-track but if Biffle is sporting a black eye sometime this weekend :D...)

JR never has a HotPass channel for road course races.

That makes sense, since he's not known for his road course skills, but it does still feel strange to happen right after he finally won one.

The era of the road course ringer has passed. These Cup regulars have become very good road racers and they are driving very good equipment.

So you are ready for a road course in the chase?

Said doesn't belong in Sprint Cup, just like Villenueve doesn't belong in Nationwide.

If I had to pick a road coarse to add to the chase, it would be Sonoma. Watkins Glen and Road America after that... Circuit Gilles Villeneuve at the bottom :)

Well since they aren't adding tracks to Cup anymore, even talks about removing some, then you're stuck with either Sonoma or Watkins Glen. I say put Watkins Glen in the chase.

If they were adding tracks I say add Montreal to Cup.

KY:

I enjoyed this years race. Last years race seemed like the drivers and crews were trying to get the feel of the track, which is understandable.
I'm no Brad fan, but I was happy with the rest of the top 10.

Yesterday, I was watching this thrilling infomercial, when it was rudely interrupted by a &^%%@* NASCAR race. If you're not familiar with Caws & Jaws, it's a mother and son team that logs the various things during a race...including the race time versus the commercials time. You can find more info at: http://www.cawsnjaws.com/ each week. This weeks race was timed at 125 minutes while the commercials took up nearly half of it at 58 minutes...not including those pesky brief (?) little ads. Look, I know that the provider (TNT in this case) have to pay for the rights to broadcast the race, but come on, if they wouldn't bid too much, there would be no need for the incessant commercials. At least with Hot Pass and the mute button, we can still watch the race from the drivers car while the commercials are taking up so much of the race...thank you DTV!

To add more problems, while watching Hot Pass, I lost the drivers video portion from the first caution flag until around lap 62. I don't know if that was caused by NASCAR or TNT, but that was ridiculous. I was watching Smokes channel because of the problems he was encountering and switched to Juniors channel and both had lost the drivers video...but not the audio - luckily.

The TNT producers, or whatever they're called, sure need to go back to TV 101. During one report, a pit reporter was talking about Boyer's tire and it's wear and said something like, "you can see right here what he encountered", but the TV never showed what the tire looked like. I've seen better TV productions by high school students...disgraceful!!

TNT is, by far, the worst broadcaster of NASCAR and I do not see many people disagreeing. Absolutely bottom of the barrel. No one should ever let Petty on TV, let alone call a race. Everything from his voice to his attitude piss me off to no end.

I'd rather have Kyle Petty and Wally Dallenbach call a race than any other team. I'm a DW fan but get him out of the booth and McReynolds, don't get me started on his massacre of the English language. Other than Wally and Kyle I'll take Dale Jarrett. Then there's Andy Petree, Rusty Wallace, Allen Bestwick, Brad Daugherty, etc. All morons!

At least Kyle and Wally call a race as they see it, not how NASCAR tells them to. They call BS when there's BS instead of towing the NASCAR company line.

Can't stand Wally, but I do enjoy Kyle's candor. Adam Alexander has done a nice job with the play by play too. Not looking forward to ESPN's Cup broadcasts. Allen Bestwick is excellent but DJ and Petree are brutal. Get Rusty out of the studio and put Nicole Briscoe with Ricky Craven and Brad Daugherty and things would be fine there.

100% agree on how badly TNT does NASCAR. But ESPN is pretty garbage at it also with that stupid bottom line scoreboard during races and the top drivers scoreboard leaves the actuall viewing of the race in a small window.

Heres hoping FOX picks up NASCAR for the whole season soon.

Could not agree more. They are all interrupting each other in the booth all the time. And Petty's stammering is annoying.

I can't wait for ESPN and Bestwick to take over.

Last night's race was almost unwatchable. That huge spam section on the bottom with pop-ups was so annoying. They still had full screen commercials anyway. And Wally clearing his throat on air all night.......sheesh.

TERRIBLE!!!!

NASCAR, please, please, please never sign a deal with TNT again!!!

I, on the other hand, completely enjoyed last night's broadcast and wish all races had "Wide Open Coverage".

Really? It was amateur hour in the booth. Talking over one another, stuttering and stammer about, walking us through replays like a few drunken dazed and confused fans. Not to mention the bottom 1/4 of the screen was wasted.

I don't think it was amateur hour at all. Wally and Kyle, in my opinion, make the best team and they aren't NASCAR's puppets. Wally and Kyle are better than Larry Mac murdering the English language with DW and WAY better than Andy Petree with that lamer Rusty Wallace. And as far as Alan Bestwick, well I wouldn't cry if he somehow got lost forever.

As far as the screen being wasted... Would you rather have the bottom of the screen used for commercials while we still get to see the race or a full screen commercial break every 2 minutes?

Yes, I like "Wide Open Coverage" and think all races should be done that way.

I thought the coverage last night was great. Whining about the bar at the bottom is just ridiculous when we get near constant coverage.

Between Trackpass Scanner and Hotpass, the commercials don't bother me much during the other broadcasts. Also, I always have the option of not watching if I don't like it.

Which is why "Wide Open Coverage" is better. The only time they "went" to commercial was a few times for local commercials, which is mandatory.
