$300 for NFL package is so high....The fact that a lot of games will be in prime time should lower the cost!

Agree, Bill. I don't watch anything on ESPN anymore except live games. I used to watch Baseball Tonight and some of the college stuff (like when the NCAA tournament bracket is announced), but now there are alternatives that are much better to me. If you would have suggested to me a few years ago that I would choose to watch Deion, Irvin, & Sapp I would have laughed in your face! But I like the NFL Network's coverage and it keeps me away from the tools on ESPN (Berman being chief) or the networks until kickoff.

I don't think we need to worry about over-saturation of the NFL. When the season is only 5 months long (with the playoffs included; four months if your team sucks like my Redskins) and only 16 regular season games, I can't see people suffering from NFL overload. Football has a built in advantage in that the seasons are short and there is a week between games. I love the NBA but I could go a week without watching a game and not miss it. If you miss a week in the NFL you are missing a significant amount.

There's not a week between games if they are airing on Thursday, Sunday, Monday, and I guess a couple of times late in the season on Saturday.

It does, if you go to Directvs website and look at NFL ST's page it's advertising such. It's now called NFL Sunday Ticket Ultimate and it includes everything.

Do we have to go thru this same thing ever year.

What about the $$ discount they give every year.

I had a $255 credit balance on my credit card. Instead of using that credit to buy something stupid and not need, I went ahead and bought the sunday ticket now. $300 isn't too bad plus I got it for free last year and $26 ($360 in bill credits). For me, I look at it for $137/Year over the last two years.

I meant there was a week between games for each team, so there is only one chance to see each team in a given period. Basketball fans will get Heat fatigue and baseball fans will get Yankee fatigue, but no one will get Patriots fatigue (in terms of games, not talking heads).

Anyway you slice it, even with the NFL having a national game 3 days a week, it is still a rare enough occurrence to where a majority of people won't get tired of the product.

I yearn for the good old days when it was $89 without the kabuki dance every year.

I yearn for the day when gas was $1.29 a gallon and that was considered outrageous.

No idea. That option may not exist anymore. Have to wait and see when it gets closer to the season.

Sunday Ticket was never $89. The first year was $99 for 13 games on Sunday. 1995 was the year.

I wish they'd give us a choice of $99 for a team, $139 for two teams (pick 'em), $159 for a division, $199 for a conference or $299 for the whole enchilada. Maybe a $50 kicker to get blackouts waived. They'd probably get a heck of a lot more subs and make a heck of a lot more money. Imagine the number of people out there that are passing on a $300 package for financial reasons that might pick up a cheaper package.

List is getting short….

They used to give you the first choice. When ST was in its infancy you could pay to watch just your team or every game. I think the 1 team option was like $79. But that was before the days of annoying local tv blackouts, etc and that's what you'd run in to if you went back to that system now. I heard the Steelers were on here in Tampa last year more than the Bucs. How would you like to have paid $100 and then have a whole lot of their games available for free on CBS/Fox?

I don't think the NFL would ever let that happen. As soon as they did they would have teams like the Cowboys saying that they deserve more money because more people get their team subscription than any other teams, etc.

Not to mention there is a good chance that they would lose a lot of money because not nearly as many people buy the $300 package since now they only need the $100 package to watch their team.
Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn’t drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."

That's what the whole blackout kicker of $50 was about.

Guys, I added the NFL ST ultimate for 299.95 + 18.00 tax. I then once I ordered it went to my account and paid 317.95 for it. I did this on FEB 14.

What I now did this past week, was see if I could get something off. After speaking with directv. I was able to get 60 back, What they will do is credit me 10 for 6 months.

Better then nothing so NFL ST ultimate is now costing me 240. Plus as mentioned I already paid with credit card the day I ordered it, so I'm all set for the 2012 season.

Season starts WED SEP 5

Directv Premier Sport Packages  NFL ST, MLB EI, NHL CI, NBA LP,

The cable carriers wanted games sold individually, pay-per-view.

I want CLTV / CLTV HD on direct tv.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger, since I had nearly $300 in credits on my account (came back to DirecTV and they refunded my early cancellation fee).

So it ended up being a wash. I had the money now (in a credit) and using it now is better than $60 over five months.

Think I should try to get some of that back, or do you think that because I'm a new/returning customer I wouldn't get very far?
