None. Oh wait, I did use the Christmas music channel once for background at a party I held once.

None of them. No bass, compressed, and sounds like hell. Pandora and XM for me.

+ 1 for me also

None, I would rather have XM's full lineup! IT would be nice if they could launch XM in DD 5.1. That would be kick ass!

None. They all sound like crap. Over compression, terrible song selection, etc.

I have grown to love the decades channels. I think the best one for decades is 90's followed by the 80's and I also love the new wave and reality bites channels also... CC1

I like the programming on the 8 Track channel, but not the sound quality. It's almost painful if I turn up the volume.

Pandora and XM sound atrocious due to extreme compression and low bit rate. Sonic Tap sounds much better on my system than either of those.

i listen to the the 8-track channel when i'm "entertaining" the ladies. i remember when d* first switched to sonic tap it sounded like complete crap; AM radio through a tin can. within a couple of weeks or so, they "fixed" it. now it sounds like FM radio. nowhere near the advertised "digital CD quality," but listenable. then again, i don't sit down and LISTEN listen; it's background music.

I like a bunch of DMX (Sonic Tap) channels but my favorites are probably the oldies channels (60's, 70's, 80's,) Classic Rock, 8-Tracks, Flashback/New Wave, Classic Hits Blend, etc.

Anyone that says Sonic Tap on DirecTV sounds compressed and worse than XM (or streaming internet services) must be listening on the 2" speaker in an old 13" TV set!!

Sonic Tap sounds 100% better than it did when it premiered two years ago. Most all of the problems have been fixed like the here again-gone again stereo on Classic Rock and the awful "pumping audio". There are a few channels that still sound worse than others but for the most part they sound just fine to me, even when I listen on my legacy McIntosh stereo system with Klipsch speakers.

Malt Shop Oldies

It sounds the way you would expect songs that old to sound, without the scratch from the records, of course...

I too was bummed out when DTV decided to switch to Sonic Tap, but I got over it.

In the mornings I listen to channel 862 (Classic Rock Workout) to get my motor started, which I feel sounds similar to Sirius/XM's Classic Rewind and/or Classic Vinyl.

In the afternoon, I listen to channel 820 (Beautiful Instrumentals) while I'm reading...it's more or less just for some background noise.

In case anyone wants to see the songs played in the past half- hour or soon each channel, go to this weblink:

http://www.dmxmusic....playing_now.asp

You'll have to figure out the different name between what DMX has for their paid service and which name they use for Sirius/XM.

There are a number of different links where you can see what is playing on DMX (Sonic Tap). They list the current song and the previous 14 songs (15 total).

DMX used to be very consumer-friendly even offering a service to consumers by setting them up with a dedicated satellite dish. They even had an 800 number where customers could offer programming suggestions. Not any more. Now the "official" DMX web site (DMX.COM) is aimed strictly at commercial establishments and doesn't even mention the fact that it's available on DirecTV or selected cable systems.

Luckily, many of the old web pages when the "official" web site was DMXMUSIC.COM remain online. But that URL now redirects you to DMX.COM so you have to know the URL's of the individual (old) pages to access them.

Their Dance channel has improved a great deal. It could still benefit from some weighting of popular tracks, but it's evolved to a point where I actually prefer it to XM's BPM, which seems to play the same 20 songs over and over.

Generally pretty happy with their top 40 programming (816, 817, 818).

Now that we're almost 2 years into the change to SonicTap, I'm curious what everyone's favorite music channels are on SonicTap?

MIne are these

820 - Easy Listening (Just about as good as music choice's is)
874 - Salsa (I love this music!!)

I do listen to others but those 2 are my favourites on Sonic's network!
