Regardless of device the highest quality stream offered by MLB.TV is 1280x720, ~4.5 Mbps, 29.97 (30) fps, half the framerate you'll get with DirecTV, lower resolution (depending on channels), and lower bitrate. Not going to look as good.

This is the first year for HD and EI for me, should I keep the SD channels in the 700's along side the HD channels?

Wouldn't hurt. Should you suffer rain fade during a game HD channels are the first to go. The SD channels will provide a back up.

Perfectly put. MLB.TV is not going to be the PQ winner under any conditions versus Directv. The reason to go MLB.TV is price, portability, replays on demand and very good PQ. The reason to go Extra Innings is excellent PQ.

Sorry, but I need some help here. We have 4 HD TVs. On 3 of them the receivers list all the EI channels including the sub-channels (ie. 721-1). The main receiver, however, hgas dropped all but the SD channels. Can you tell me how I can get them back? Watching in SD isn't too satisfying. I'm guessing it's in my settings but I'm not sure what I need to do.

Thansk for your input.

Edit: Never mind. I went to the website and did a refresh for the receiver and then reset the remote to "Channels I Get". Somehow it had flipped to "Custom 1". All is okay now.

Have both and the PQ on my 55 inch Panasonic plasma is about the same on both MLB.tv and Extra Innings... Currently watching the Phillies game from yesterday and I'm getting a perfect 720p image with no ghosting, buffering or pixelating going on... Watching through the PS3 currently but checked out the Dodgers game last evening through Panasonic Viera connect... Same results..

You can't hide the SD EI channels in the 700's. Since each channel has a -1 for the HD broadcast you can't get rid of the SD feeds.

Does anyone know if D* will have the MLB Network Strike Zone channel that Dish is carrying Tues & Fri nights starting April 10? The Game Mix channel is great but I miss Strike Zone.

I believe you can hide the SD channels using custom favorites.

That said, because there is (still) an occasional SD-only game, it is probably better to keep the SD channels in the guide to avoid missing something. If the day ever comes that every feed on EI is HD, then D* will remove the -1 suffixes from the HD channels, allowing the SD feeds to be automatically suppressed if you use that setup option.

What I usually do is create a custom Baseball favorites and add all -1 HD Extra Innings channels to it. No need for sd :D

Any good, plausible, rational or believable explanation as to why I can view the Padres pre-game show on the MLB Mix channel, but not on the game channel?

Are the Padres your local team? Do you have sports pack? If you answered no to these questions that is your answer.
