On the 3-20-2012 episode, were those old clips of Asner from an original episode of Hawaii Five-0 (Jack Lord era) where he played the same character who was given the prision sentence that in this episode they mentioned he had just completed? It sure seemed that way.

He appears to have NOT been rehabilitated!

Yes, those clips were from the Dec. 11, 1975 Hawaii Five-0. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0598251/

Clever having him reprise his previous role. It added something to the story. I had never seen the original episode though.

I thought the use of the old clips was very well done and clever.

Agreed, especially since he had the same figurines now as he did then. The obviously saved them from the original show and CBS kept them in storage.
