Please use this thread to discuss your feelings about upcoming national HD channels.

This thread will not be as tightly moderated as the rest of the site, but here's the tradeoff...in exchange for your being able to rant a bit more, you can be assured that absolutely no one at DIRECTV will be using this thread for reference.

You can ask for all the new HD you want, but DIRECTV's marketing department knows that the 100-150 contributors to this thread are only a small part of the nearly 20,000,000 total subscribers.

*Please remember that all forum rules are still in effect.
*Please do not "bump" this thread.
*Other threads that do nothing but anticipate HD channels for which there is no information will be closed.
*This is not a DIRECTV vs. Dish thread, there are other threads for that.

Since it costs 2.4¢ to produce a penny, my 2¢ worth is really 4.8¢ worth.  That 4.8¢ is my own and not the 4.8¢ of DIRECTV, Dish, or anyone else for that matter.

For me, just BBCA-HD.

I have made a firm commitment to myself that I will not watch another season of Doctor Who in SD!

Here we go again. :beatdeadhorse:

BBC
Cooking Channel
DIY
E!
Encores
FMC
G4
GSN (D* owns a portion of this, why are we still waiting?)
H2
HLN
HUB
IFC
NGW
Outer Max (why didn't we get this with the other Cinemax's?)
Outdoor Channel (available only in the sports pack, why are we still waiting?)
Sportsman Channel
Sundance
TCM
TV Land

We may see a few of these this year, but my prediction is that we will see many of these added mid to late 2013 or 2014, after the new satellites are launched.

Any HD.
If you stop responding to them or put them on ignore, then eventually they'll go away.

Anything is welcome if it doesn't hurt the bitrate of other channels. I already have all the channels I actually watch in HD but I don't mind Top Gear on BBCA joining the club.
Standard Definition Causes Lung Cancer, Heart Disease, Emphysema, And May Complicate Pregnancy.

You want DirecTV to add MTV-U in HD? Will you switch from Dish, then? I don't even think MTV-U has a HD channel.

All channels that shoot programs in HD but D only has SD. When this happens we now have black bars on all four sides if you do not expand and cause more blurring. With a 46 in TV its like watching a 32 in TV. Come on D lets get with it!! I do have a few other options but I like D!!
Directv since Oct 1994
HR23 with VOD
H24-700
BlueRay with Netflix Streaming
Roku-Amazon Prime

Things change... :(

The quarter before last's thread, I had a bunch of channels I was hoping for... and while I still hope for many of them (I no longer really care about the Encore channels since I no longer subscribe to Total Choice Ultimate), their importance is considerably less.

The only ones I TRULY still hope are coming this year are BBCA-HD, CW HD-DNS, and TV Land HD.

The quarter before last's thread

I still wonder why this is a quarterly thread? With so little HD additions the past few years, it seems it might be better to do a yearly thread instead.
