Is there any interest in my publishing, or making available, past TPN Maps? I have a stash of about 150 TPN Map documents, going back to March, 2009.

These older maps are embarrassingly crude, compared to what we are doing today; but there is a wealth of information buried here. These could be available via links, a parallel to the mechanism we use to provide the Beam Footprint GoogleEarth maps.

Only if there is interest....

Directv has updated the over the air guide for WYDO-DT2 14.2, it was on RF ch 14 since WYDO changed frequencies after the digital transitions. 14.1 did change to RF47, but they finally got 14.2 moved to 47 on the directv system. Now we can see Bounce TV.

Probably be better to post that in the "OTA Guide Issue" thread here;

That OTA change first appeared in our 5/30/12 TPN Map and thus was made between 5/23 and 5/30/12.

That change has been out there since 5/30 and you have just discovered it? Or perhaps did your system require a reboot to discover the change? I am not sure how the OTA mechanism works...

It's working as DB, updates coming from stream each minute and some resident process updating the DB what will allow to other tasks to use it.

Hey gct;

Minor technical question. I notice among other things in the test screen menu accessed from a simultaneous front panel button press of "Guide" + ">" I get a string of numbers with spaces listed for the Network ID.

Like mines for the LA market as displayed on my HR34 with a SL-5 dish for instance is "0 2 3 10 11 14 150 15 113"

Now I gather from this that this string refers to;

0 ---- Network 0 or the 101 satellites
2 ---- Net. 2 or the 110 sat.
3 ---- Net. 3 or the 119 sat.
10 --- Net. 10 or 99c
11 --- Net. 11 or 99s
14 --- Net. 14 or 103s
150 --- Net. 15 or ?
15 ---- Net. 15 or ?
113 ---- LA. Market ID #

But do you know if the "150" stands for Net. 15 --- 103cb and the "15" is for Net. 15 --- 103ca?

Or is it vice-versa?

HoTat2,

All the answers are on the "Network Decoder" tab within the TPN Map Excel - and you are mostly correct. However, Net 15 is a CONUS Network that covers both the 103CB Display (D10) and 103CA Display (D12).

There is no Network 150 that I have ever seen in the data, although this is an ever-evolving cloud of data. On my systems, I too get that same '150' mixed in the display. And that is on an HR21 and an HR24 - so the 150 is not unique to any equipment.

If I find anything else - I'll share it with you!

Perhaps the numbers: 150 and 113 means TIDs ? Not net## ?

Nah. The "113" is clearly the Market Number for the Los Angeles DMA. My Local DMA shows up on that same screen for me.

But I too, get the '150' in the Network list.

We have yet more to learn...

Something like session/internal or fake or phantom network# ... The net#150 is not in current system tables for sure.

On the theory that '150' might be an phantom for DOD access or MRV, I disconnected the IP cable from a unit, then rebooted the unit with no internet connectivity. The '150' still remained.

Maybe it is a network that is forthcoming - the Receivers are being prepared to have it fired up. We'll see.

:)

I'm honestly surprised that DIRECTV is carry TV-55 (WLNY) in HD this quickly. CBS bought the channel only a couple of months ago and converted from SD to HD and here DIRECTV is already testing it!

Well ... while of no use to me. Spanish local KVEA-DT 52 HD (TMO) coming to the L.A. market. But good for those spanish speaking among us here and will bring to 12 the total number of HD locals carried by DIRECTV in this market.

According to the spreadsheet I suppose it will use spotbeam A4BB (Antenna 4 Beam 11) Tp. 22 from D10 or 12. I guess its no wonder Tp. 22 has been lit up at 100 on my 103(s) signal strength screen for the past few months in addition to the regular Tps. 19 and 21.

Odd duplication of one local station on two test channels on two different satellites? :confused:

And boy, sure seems DIRECTV has struck a deal to carry a group of Telemundo (TMO) affiliate stations here.

HoTat2,

I believe the Denver DMA is gigantic in terms of geography covered. It may be that they need two beams to cover the entire DMA.

It would be some interesting homework!

Yeah it could be;

Never seen that before though.

Anyhow gct, on another topic I notice on the Network Decoder tab of this latest map you now have D5 at 110w (Network 2) in the pink color for spotbeams and labeled for "MPEG2 SD LIL"

When did the CONUS beamed D5 become a spotbeam bird for SD LiLs? ;)

I think it's the size of the Denver DMA.
ALL of Denver's HD channels are duplicates on D-11 and D-10/12 and have been for years.

SAT 110 is doing strange things right now .
Very little activity but the guide info pid on TPN 12 which had been dark for many weeks shows up this week on TPN 10. Our sorting is not fully "right" yet.

Remember my review of the D-10/12 and D-11 Spotbeams of last year??

We have exact data on D-10/12. A few D-11 beams suggest D-11 beams of same designation shifted UP and RIGHT ie: NorthEast by 150 to 200 miles.
Thus the same beam ,simultaneously from D-10 and D-11 covers almost double the area in a SW to NE axis.

Very sharp eyes there, HoTat2. I am very much impressed! Actually, I am having trouble keeping up with D5's gyrations:

Last week, D5 transitioned from a previously CONUS bird, to one which was providing about a half-dozen 'Ad Addressable' SD channels into Local Market #113 - the Los Angeles DMA. Hence the change in the Network Decoder.

This week, D5 is providing about 23 test channels to Puerto Rico. I guess those are still 'spot' beams so the Network Decoder is still close to correct.

Attached is an little Excel of D5 channels for this week. Not all these channels made it into yesterday's TPN Map, only because there were some technical issues with D5 PIDs that did not get resolved until late yesterday evening.

A bigger view of what is going on with DIRECTV and DIRECTV-Panamericana is a whole giant topic all its own. Examples - Puerto Rico has been told that while they now have 14 HD channels, they will have 30 by year end. Puerto Rico is supposedly to become a part of the Domestic Network - obviously to free up resources on G3C. DIRECTV-Latin America (DLA) is a gigantic market -- with gigantic revenues and gigantic growth. But this is a whole 'nother topic....

EDIT 6/20/12
The attachment is removed. Please see the current TPN Map for the most current D5 channel status.

Every indication we have is that D5 is morphing into a very different animal. It is going to be very interesting to watch this play out.

Don't worry. It's easier to "see" some of these things if you sort every HD-LIL channel (1473 now) by DMA Market, Satellite, +/or Transponder EVERY week.
