IMO they should offer the package this way:
$50 RedZoneChannel Only Package (doesn't require an NFLST subscription)

Isnt the thing though that they feel officially offering redzone standalone then too many would drop ST.

I would think that most that pony up the $$ for NFL ST do so to see thier out of market team every week, or are die hard NFL fans that want the option to watch any game they want. Sure there might be some that would drop NFL ST to just get RZC, but I would think the # of subs that buy NFL ST for RZC only is pretty small. I know I wouldn't ever consider paying $300 for RZC only (unless I win the lottery and am pooping out dead presidents in my sleep )

Try being a Bills fan living in Dallas......for that matter try being any other team's fan other than a Cowboy fan in Dallas! You NEED ST

Better that than losing someone to FIOS who just wants RZC.

NFL Sunday Ticket must not be "Auto Renewing" anymore. I have had the NFL Sunday Ticket since 1997 and every year on the channel that NFL Sunday Ticket would be on where you could "Order With Your Remote" I have noticed that it is saying on my TV on Channel 114 "To order this program now, text ORDER to 223322, Go to DIRECTV.com/PPV or call 1-800-531-5000 Extension 732. So I guess they are not auto renewing the package anymore? Is this correct?

You may have had Sunday Ticket since 1997, but DirecTV has only had it since 2000. I have had NFL Sunday Ticket since 1995. 1995-1999 you had to have a big dish to get it. Don't know about auto renewing yet, usually doesn't happen this early.

Why do you worry about RedZone now. Football season is three months off?

Try being a Cowboys fan living in Buffalo. I've had Sunday Ticket since it's inception in 1995 and haven't missed a single Cowboys play since. Love it! I would subscribe if it was $1000 per season...although I wouldn't like it.

That's not true. I had NFLST with DirecTV prior to 2000. I believe I first subscribed to it in 1996, but certainly not later than 1997.

Sunday Ticket has been on Directv since 1994, not just since 2000. I remember the commercials thinking "damn that'd be cool to not have to watch the Dolphins every week!"

Sunday Ticket has been on DTV since 1994. Here is a very good article discussing the history. http://sports.espn.g...terbrook/071030

I like this excerpt from that article (emphasis added):

Sure -- all the people who want it at $250 a year, plus bundled charges, plus the hassle of installing and maintaining a satellite dish.

Is it really a hassle installing a dish? OK, maybe in some cases, but a hassle to maintain it? I admit, I have to go dust and polish, re-align, re-calibrate, and shine my dish once a week, and when it rains, I have to put a huge frequency shifting, pass-through shielded umbrella above it to not lose the signal, but other than that, what's there to maintain?

FAITH: I find the lack of it disturbing.

Opinions are my own but should be those of all Americans, who would be much better off intellectually, psychologically, and emotionally if that were the case.

You forgot having to go out and rub warming cream on the dish when the temperature goes below 65.

At any rate, I'd call the linked item an opinion column, not an article.

The writer, Gregg Easterbrook, is nothing if not wordy. I'm surprised he didn't complain about the hassle of "installing, constructing, putting in, maintaining, and keeping up a parabolic satellite dish antenna and receiver."

Touche....you may need more than ST if you're a Cowboys fan in Buffalo!

Between the two SuperBowl losses and the "No Goal" Stanley Cup loss, Buffalonians probably wish Texas would go ahead and succeed from the Union:lol:

Only if you rent their boxes :) If you dont, you get a $2.50 credit for each outlet.

And the upfront cost for that is what?
