I love Directv but seriously, do they not care about their current customers and/or retaining them as customers? I guess that's why they still require either a 1 or 2 year commitment. That way when you move and call movers connection the technician can come out if he doesn't feel like performing the install Directv still gets paid. Now I know there are great technicians out there. But the one that came to set up my dish said it wasn't possible due to line of site. (there was even a dish already installed about 100 yards directly in front of where mine was going) As a result, after a grueling move, I then had to install my own slimline dish. I also did not receive any of what Directv advertises as "up to $500 worth" of free programming and equipment.
I've been with Direct since the beginning (USSB) and if I wasn't such a sucker I would smarten up and switch to Prism TV. By the way, I'm watching right now after my own install and have a great signal. "Thank you for being a loyal Directv subscriber..."jokes on me.

If they promised you new equipment, I would write them and request they send it and turn on your free programming, if you really want it.

Just because a loser tech didnt want to work should not relieve DirecTv of their contract with you to provide what was promised.

A lot of people don't understand LOS issues. A house 20 feet away can have LOS and the other house wouldn't.

How is the OP's dish mounted? Is it to code and DirecTV specs?

btw anything after 20ft with a kaku dish can be charged for a ground pole mount. so if he was to put it out there with the other and trenched a cable it would have cost you.

Dish is installed to code using a Directv approved Perfect Vision NPR8 Non-Penetrating Flat-Roof Mount. The entire run is under 20'.

Update: I received a call from someone in Escalations that was following up on my original call. After explaining the whole ordeal again this lady was completely no help. She "wasn't authorized" to do anything to help me. Why call me in the first place? I didn't know if I was talking to Direct or the Government. Both apparently have the same amount of red tape.
