Amazing, what I can view without a receiver activated. I have a TV and Dish 500 and #508 receiver in my shop/garage. The 508 was activated till last fall and had it deactivated. I generally don't watch that much TV in the shop during the winter months....too cold. Today, while I was cleaning up the shop I turned on the TV and 508 to see what was on channel 240 (sports), as it is a free channel. I was running through the channels and came across the HBO (free preview) channels. I found that I can watch these HBO channels free without the 508 being activated. Well!, for time being till the free days are gone.

No here, you must have a loyalty offer as I don't have it on any of my DVR's. LOL

My bad, I didn't realize I'm in the Dish forum, ouch!

HBO generally doesn't do free previews until new shows crop up.

"Belligerent and numerous."

Sometimes I update the Dish Network FAQ

AT200, Hopper & 360 via HDMI to Onkyo 505 to basement 42" Westy, Hopper via Comp-over-Cat5 to living room 42" Vizio with a Roku 3, Joey to Toshiba 32" LCD with a Logitech Revue. You want fries with that? Pull up to the 2nd window.

Yes it does show up in preview mode on my subscribed receiver I get a picture. On my unsubscribed 811 it shows up as green in the guide but I can't watch it.

Now is the time to experience HBO FREE for three days! DISH will be giving you a free preview of HBO so you can see what you have been missing. Catch the premiere of The Weight of the Nation, a four-part documentary series, each featuring case studies, interviews with our nation’s leading experts, and individuals and their families struggling with obesity.

I was wondering if there was a special promotion going on related to this free preview so I logged on to Dish customer service chat. I just asked the question and was offered HBO for 1/2 price for the next 6 months! I really wanted to see Game of Thrones and catch up on True Blood so I took the offer. It's still $8 a month, but I also get access to HBO on demand which makes it worth it for me.:)

The Freepreview website was mentioned on today's HTGuys home theater podcast. For years I have been sending the HTGuys a lot of information to use on their podcasts. So if anyone is interested in hearing their comments it's 4:45 into their podcast. Thanks Dave for posting this here and I'm sure many will find this website useful.
