Since you are in an apartment, they will have to get permission to install a separate dish on your private area, not attached to the building unless your landlord permits that.

Not true if he doesn't have a master DirecTV dish.

The FCC's OTARD gives the OP the right to install a dish on his exclusive-use patio as Davenlr previously mentioned.

Indeed.

his initial communication with the System Op

"Hi Drew, We have found out, that the new receivers WILL require a swm 8 switch. We contacted the property to see if they would pay for the switch, but {Mod Edit} stated they will not pay as getting the new receiver is the decision of the resident. The cost of the swm switch is $135.00. This will apply to any property, not just{[Mod Edit}. Please let me know if you still want the install done & I will send another est. with the cost of the switch for you to sign. Also, there is a cost of $100 to install the switch as well. Your total new cost would be $235 for switch install & switch itself. I apologize for the change, but it's what is needed for these new receivers. Please advise. {Mod Edit}"

Removed names and locations.

My comments and opinions are my own and not necessarily those of DirecTV.

Drew Again I strongly recommand that you contact the management and have them put you in contact with the people that manage the DTV equipment for that building.

Tell them what you would like to do and they will tell you BETTER THEN ANYONE ELSE, what can be done.

Good Luck

So? My original statement stands as written.

You saying if they have a master antenna, they cannot put one on their private balcony if the master antenna is incapable of providing the service they require? I havent studies OTARD exceptions, just the general stuff.

No, that's not what I said. I stated that what the OP had said wasn't true in a specific situation.

FAITH: I find the lack of it disturbing.
