Finally decided to take the plunge, Dish can't run my numbers....

I finally decided to do it. Order DISH, and Hopper. Tried online yesterday morning, I get an error. Tried last night on Chat, they said my credit had run that morning, and it wouldn't run again that night. Tried online this morning, said I had exceeded the maximum number of attempts (I did plug in numbers online a couple of times to see what deals they were doing over the past month, but never ran it all the way through until yesterday morning), couldn't do a deal (even though I haven't had the service), and tried on chat. Said same thing, he gave me a number to call. At that Dish ID verification number, she said it could be related to some technical difficulties, to try back in 24 hours. If not, I'd have to wait 90 days. So here I am, a sparkling credit record, willing to take the plunge, do 2 year auto pay to get all the discounts, and I can't get it done. Man, talk about disappointment. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....

Once you start running the number it usually counts, not if you don't finish it.

I don't get it. I am who I say I am, obviously after they verify it on the phone, etc. And I don't have their service. I'm a willing and able customer. And I can't get it. :confused:

Yep, I'd have hated to have saved $36 a month, starting tomorrow. :rolleyes:

These measures are there for a reason.

There are most definitely people out there who get try to get accounts set up all the time with fraudulent information.
The system saw the same set of info run through multiple times and flagged it.

All you have to do is talk to the verification team and provide the info they need to prove you are who you say you are.
It might be annoying but from there end its just a safety precaution.

Lesson learned use some common sense next time lol.

Not saying you are not you. The system probably flagged it due to the amount of activity. Wait a few days and try again. Good luck.

Yeah, that's what I've decided I have to do. I spoke to their ID team, and they mentioned their system had tech. difficulties yesterday, so I don't think I did anything wrong (again, I didn't run through anything completely on their website until yesterday). But it's a pain in the rear. I leave for SF on Thursday, come back on Sunday. I may try next week.

I wonder if you may not be best served by calling the card issuer and explaining the situation to them.
They could possibly communicate to Dish that the card is cleared and you are authorized to use it for the transaction.

These things can be weird sometimes.
I had card being declined once because I hadn't added the office shipping address as an authorized delivery address. Problem is that the vendor didn't tell me that. Just that the transaction was no approved. Finally got it straight with the bank.

I might try that if I can't get in the next round. The card is issued by the institution my wife works at, so that won't be a problem. Or, I could use a different card?

Different card could be a quick and easy work-around.

Dell even let my middle name give my first name a gift card a couple of weeks ago, so my middle name qualified for a free $75 gift card from Dell. All applied to a new TV. ;)

See if DTV has some receiver deals.

A year ago when I had already installed Dish, called to cancel Directv, and man did they offer deals to me. At the time I was paying almost $100 for just basic crap (no HBO, sports, etc). They eventually offered me the exact same pkg I had for $47/mo for at least 1 yr!!

But 'at the time' Dish had AMC HD, & BCC HD which DTV did not, partially why I switched, that and MUCH cheaper 1 yr deal with Dish.

Call up and ask for 'customer retention' if you are with DTV, save a bundle of $$ !!

PS: would not cry over NOT having Dish, DTV will do the Olympics MUCH better than Dish, multiple channels in HD, DTV has all the important HD channels (still), some that Dish does not, so DTV is good IF you get a good deal!!
