Is anyone interested in the new BBCA series, Copper?
It premiers Sunday.

Come Monday I'm sure there will be a thread discussing it.

DirecTV customer since 1995.

For those interested, BBCA apparently will be re-airing "Luther" from the beginning. I set up a Series Link for the show...

"Law And Order: UK" is in the program guide as well, but it's not the critical darling that "Luther" is.

~Alan

Thanks for the tip.

And I did have to re-do my Doctor Who series links this morning (it was recording the SD version).

But, aaaaaah. . . . finally.
LR(non-CE): HR44, Mits 65C9; Office/FR (CE): HR22-100 + AM21, Mits 60737 + Mits 3DA1 3D adapter. Spare bedroom (non-CE), HR23. Genie WHDVR, wireless networking (yay!)

You may dislike HLN, but it's ratings for 2011 beat out DIY, H2, Cooking, LMN, We, Military, NASA, IFC, & Universal Sports.

That's mostly because HLN is one of those channels you can just turn on in the morning and forget about it. It plays news most of the day, ideal for airports, coffee shops, office lobbies, dentist/dr. offices, you name it.... everywhere where people sit, and where there is a TV (and isn't catered to sport), a news channel, and specifically one that has actual news at least 15 minutes of every hour is a great choice.

It's not really a channel one would turn in to for a specific program. You turn it on for the morning news, whether you watch that half an hour at 6, 7 or 8 AM.

I don't believe, for instance, many people would DVR content from HLN to watch the next day or in the evening.
[Disclaimer] The definition of "soon" is based solely on DirecTV's interpretation of the word, and all similarities with dictionary definitions of the word "soon" are purely coincidental and should not be interpreted as a time frame that will come to pass within a reasonable amount of time.

DirecTV's twitter feed is oddly quiet. First tweet of the day was asking who Jeannie's master was in I Dream of Jeannie.

You can't be a leader in sports TV without it.

Uh...okay.

I prefer Nancy Grace in SD to HD.

Actually, I prefer Nancy Grace on mute.

Nancy Grace is the main reason I don't dare to tune in to HLN, for the risk of seeing/hearing her when I tap that channel is just to great. :D

Mav TV. You can't be a leader in sports TV without it.

Yes you can. Just like DirecTV can be the leader in sports without Longhorn Network and CSN Philly.

And I did have to re-do my Doctor Who series links this morning (it was recording the SD version)....

I also had to redo the link, but not unexpected.
What was unexpected was that when I did the search the HD channel didn't show in the list. Only the VOD selections. I had to go to the guide and select the recording from it. And yes, the HD version is in my favorites list.

Had to set up "Copper" using the guide as well.
DirecTV since '96, Waivers for ABC, CBS, NBC, & Fox, HR23-700 & HR24-500/AM21, using ethernet based MRV.

As I posted before, upconverted, 720p, and 1080i beats 480i anytime.

Particularly widescreen 480i over-compressed and shrunk/boxed for a 4:3 screen.

BBCAHD looks quite lovely this morning, even on the upconvert ws Doctor Who.

It takes a while for that to show up correctly if memory serves...

So, before moving on tomorrow to a new round of whining for my further wants. . ..

. . . just a moment to say THANK YOU, DIRECTV for BBCAHD this morning, which along with TCMHD less than a month ago has significantly increased the value of your offering to this household, and brought a smile to my face, and to my wife's face. Seriously. Much appreciated.

I'm tickled pink that BBCA is now up in HD! It was the last of the basic channels I was really interested in.

Same here. Finally, Doctor Who in HD!!! :D

I'm thinking some time today. Something must have gone wrong, or maybe something wasn't launched in the correct way, and it is better to fix it before the actual launch. :D

You might want to check the link... primetime ratings still beat the others listed.
If you stop responding to them or put them on ignore, then eventually they'll go away.

The problem I have with series like Luther on BBC America is that they are an hour long in the UK. When they are re-broadcast on BBC America, they insert 15 minutes of commercials and still broadcast the show in a one hour format. Thus they cut 15 minutes of the actual program. Cutting 15 minutes from an hour detective show makes that show almost unintelligible. The show is really butchered.

They used to show the full length on the first showing. Now, that does not happen very often.

Mike
