I'd like to cut out some of the RSNs that have been around for a while due to the old terestrial loophole, but I'm not knowledgeable enough about them to know which ones they are.

Combing the CSPANs to one and the EPIX to one would save you another 4 polling spots.
LR(non-CE): HR44, Mits 65C9; Office/FR (CE): HR22-100 + AM21, Mits 60737 + Mits 3DA1 3D adapter. Spare bedroom (non-CE), HR23. Genie WHDVR, wireless networking (yay!)

Yeah... I did that with the Pac-12 Networks, and forgot to do that with others...

I did so and corrected some mistakes...

So based on Alan's list.... (you have way too much time, :D ) and knowing that we have "about 20-25" HD slots left till 2014 per the technical thread.... I cut down the list to a selection that in my opinion is "most likely" to be added before 2014:

Cooking Channel
CSN Houston (October, 2012)
Encore Action
Encore Drama
Fox Movie Channel
Game Show Network
H2 (formerly History International)
Headline News
Lifetime Movie Network
MTV2
Oprah Winfrey Network
Pac-12 Network (+ Part Time feeds)
Pentagon Channel
Style Network
The Hub
Time Warner Cable SportsNet (October 1, 2012)
Time Warner Cable Deportes (October 1, 2012)
TV Land
Universal Sports
WeTV

I think Fox Sports New Orleans will be a "Part Time" HD, only in HD during NBA games. I think Fox Sports San Diego will continue that same way. Philly CSN won't be added. Nor will new DNS networks for CW and PBS. Epix won't be added either, that is what the Viacom deal made clear.

Blue are new channels.

20 channels listed. Although it could be as much as 25, I believe this estimate was made BEFORE BBC America, Nat Geo Wild and Disney Jr were added. Realistically, DirecTV will focus a bit more on sports still so I think they will carry the sports channels listed above, eventually.... after lots of pushing and shoving. :D
[Disclaimer] The definition of "soon" is based solely on DirecTV's interpretation of the word, and all similarities with dictionary definitions of the word "soon" are purely coincidental and should not be interpreted as a time frame that will come to pass within a reasonable amount of time.

I'm assuming your post is unrelated to the poll?!

... because the polls have NEVER been what we EXPECT to be added, but rather our most wanted channels.

Yes. It's a list of channels that I think are most likely to be added over the course of the next year and a half or so.

Since we are assuming that ION East is imminent, I would leave out ION West. That is what DVRs are for.

Well, that 25 was a guesstimate. The theoretical max from going to 6 HD per transponder was 44. . . but I too would be more comfortable with using 25 for guesstimating purposes. Tho 30-35 wouldn't exactly shock and amaze me.

My iPhone guide only omits DIY so far, ION is still there..... So not next week I think, unless they come to an agreement soon.

I'm personally skeptical that we'll see a few of your choices prior to D14.

I also think that we'll see Indieplex and Retroplex prior to D14 given that DirecTV has an agreement for the channels, and I don't see them adding them in SD only.

For the most part, we're in agreement.

Since we are assuming that ION East is imminent, I would leave out ION West. That is what DVRs are for.

I combined the CW DNS feeds into one since I recently realized that it appears only the East Coast feed is doubling as some LiL markets' feed... making it slightly more appealing of an add than the West Coast feed.

However, ion West is offered nationwide and is used in multiple markets... some of which are quite large... hence why I left it. However, I agree, it should be left out. I'm editing my personal suggestions... cutting it down to 66...

However, the last additions came back to iPhone before they went live. At least mine did. It is possible Ion goes live without disappearing again.

Considering the app's behavior before, I wouldn't consider the presence of it a sign until next Tuesday. Even then it doesn't mean it won't come...

I'm still placing bets for before the end of the month, but I have no feelings either way regarding next week.

My point is that ION West should not be a choice. I have no problem leaving ION in, but if we are assuming that since ION East is in test that it is coming soon, then leave out ION West. If we do not agree that ION East is coming soon, put ION in, but do not specify ION West.

if Time Warner Cable SportsNet picks up more teams we may see Fox Sports San Diego go full time and / or FS prime ticket fold down to a game only part time over flow feed. But like the other Fox Sports feeds there is a lot of over lap that is needed for cable systems but not so much for Directv.
also maybe add CSS (Houston feed) part time?? / to CSN Houston as maybe a mixed CSN Houston + / CSS channel.

CSN Philly and TCN Philly maybe????? Why is dish not jumping on it they wanted it bad as well is comcast still playing games?

Now what about chiller HD?

Maybe what ever they Rebrand g4 as can be added?
I want CLTV / CLTV HD on direct tv.

CSS HD is not full time.

The main CSS (not the Houston feed) just went full time HD in many Comcast & Charter markets in the Southeast. Charter in my area is now carrying it full time in HD. So if D* wants to they can add it just like C$N Philly or any other Comcast owned networks since there is no exclusivity, the problem always is related to the cost Comcast is demanding though.

Interesting as the CSS webpage still says select live programs are available in HD.

An HD feed of Chiller does not exist, and I have heard of no plans to start one.
