I remember back in the earlier days of Directv when a new channel was gonna be added, you would see it in the guide.
It would say for example

305 IONEHD begins 8/15 @ 6am and sometimes it would also air a preview loop of the channel.

I wish Directv would go back to doing that.

Think of it as Christmas.

Remember being a kid and not knowing what you were going to get for Christmas? Christmas morning was a great rush of excitement, but so was December 23rd. I almost liked that day better. That rush from anticipation was hugely stimulating for this young boy.

As an adult, most of our surprises are bad news. We get an unexpected bill in the mail, a child comes to us with a problem, something at work blows up or a health issue arises.

For adults, a surprise equals bad news. For a child, a surprise is just as likely good news.

Let anticipation bring out the child in you.

Everybody has their own personal preferences...

Me?! I look back fondly on seeing a channel announcement pop up in the Guide, and then experiencing the anticipation of waiting for it to get here.

Yes, I have Sixto now, and the experience is pretty much the same, but not everybody has a Sixto.

New channel announcements frequently show up in Messages several days after the fact!

I was shocked to see Gangs Of New York on BBCAHD today in its OAR. It's rare a non movie channel respects OAR.
If you stop responding to them or put them on ignore, then eventually they'll go away.

You can watch the channel then anticipate when the banner ad shows up. Make a game. Start a pool.

So what are we anticipating then? I know my #1 right now is H2. FoxMovieChannel would be nice in HD too. I never watch the movies on there since they are crap SD.

For me, H2 as well, then probably DIY and Cooking Channel. Once it gets an HD version, Universal Sports. In my case we're starting to get to the bottom of the barrel for channels we watch.

I also wish I had Fox Sports HD in my market full time. I had to get the sports pack for one weeks worth of racing.

PAC 12 in some form is probably next.

Then I expect a lull for a couple months. No info. Just a hunch.

Does TeenNick have an HD feed available? If not they need to get one.

Edit: According to Wikipedia they have a 1080i feed in some areas.

BEIN is a paid channel in France (11 Euros/month!!). I wonder in which package Directv will place it.
Standard Definition Causes Lung Cancer, Heart Disease, Emphysema, And May Complicate Pregnancy.
