On a Lakers rumors fan site. I saw this via twitter.

A Lakersnation reporter is reporting that a deal is done between TWC and DirectTV:

Here is his twitter:

Jabari A. Davis ‏@RealTalkOnSprts

Found out Directv and TWC worked out their issues, and I will be able to watch every second of action from @ejchristian7 #BestNewsOfTheDay.

Take it for what it is worth. Could be legit or just someone trying to get followers.

Also this one from twitter from a Lakers beat writer.

DirecTV rep told me, "We plan to carry TWC SportsNet in a way that is affordable for everyone." Not sure when, but they'll have a deal.

The problem is Directv's new stance regarding sports is Sports pack/ premier, stand alone ala carte or lastly ppv. They seem to be using this stance towards all new sports channels poping up right now. Which is what the Directv statement meant. They don't want to put it in a very low base package anymore. I would say the days of Directv being the sports leader are gone. Now if you live out of market the online packages except for NBA league pass are the way to go. I wouldn't expect it added anytime soon. Especially before the regular season starts. CSN Houston and FS New Orleans may be in the same boat.

Well, TWC SportsNet launches tonight at 7pm Pacific Time. I didn't want to take any chances and miss any Lakers coverage, including behind-the-scenes exclusives and such, so I signed up for Time Warner Cable last week.

I hope that D* does carry this network sooner than later, as I plan to cancel TWC as soon as that happens.

base package in market and sports pack out of side of it.

Is how it worked for years.

Now what the point of makeing it base package for all if out of market is loaded with blackouts?

FS New Orleans is just a new sub feed split off of a FS feed that they have now.
I want CLTV / CLTV HD on direct tv.

How is what you are saying any different than what already exists? The only exception to this rule I can think of is BTN, which can be argued is a regional channel but it is more of a super regional like Pac 12. All local RSNs are local except for sports pack, etc.

No provider has every single channel available. By your logic no provider is a leader at anything.

Who is?
If you stop responding to them or put them on ignore, then eventually they'll go away.

Except D* has ALWAYS touted itself as the Sports Leader.
Without the PAC-12 Net (and if it doesn't sign with the TWC/Lakers RSN) it isn't anymore thus, the torch has been passed.

From the DirecTV website:http://www.directv.c...iew?lpos=header

"DIRECTV is the undisputed leader in sports. .

No matter what teams you follow, no matter where you live, no one has you covered like DIRECTV.
From international soccer to college hoops to every out-of-market NFL game every Sunday—we have it."

Well, they don't have college hoops covered if they don't sign the PAC-12 Net, and TWC/Lakers channel, that also has plans to cover college hoops. So, I'd say TWC is quickly catching them.

That didn't answer my question. You said "it (DirecTV) isn't anymore thus, the torch has been passed." Who'd they pass it to? Who's the new sports leader?

No ST on TWC. TWC lacks multiple HD feeds for CI, LP & EI.
If you stop responding to them or put them on ignore, then eventually they'll go away.

The only pro sports pack that Directv currently has over it's competitors is NFL Sunday Ticket.

Even NFL ST is losing it's value now with how many games are shown on national TV on a weekly basis on CBS, FOX, NBC,ESPN, and NFL Network.

NHL Center Ice, NBA League Pass, MLB Extra Innings, are also available on Cable providers, or Telco IPTV providers.

When the current exclusive deal for NFL ST is up for bid again.I seriously won't be surprised to see Directv lose it's long standing exclusivity and the service offered to other providers.

With 1 or 2 HD Game channels because cable lacks bandwidth for practically every game in HD.

Just compare the number of RSN's they have to any other provider. It's a blowout. DirecTV is the sports leader. No one comes close.

As I posted elsewhere, this is nonsense. We have had three games on networks during the day on Sunday forever. Sunday night and Monday night have been around for well over a decade. As has half a season of Thursday night games. So, an addition of 8 games per year (the new expanded Thursday night schedule) has made Sunday Ticket lose its value?

NHL Center Ice, NBA League Pass, MLB Extra Innings, are also available on Cable providers, or Telco IPTV providers.

Uh, no where near as good or as much. And ignore all the coverage of the grand slam events and the golf events and nascar and....

When the current exclusive deal for NFL ST is up for bid again.I seriously won't be surprised to see Directv lose it's long standing exclusivity and the service offered to other providers.

Yeah, we will see. No one else can handle the NFL like DirecTV does. No one provides them consistent coverage across the country (other than Dish) and no one else has the dedicated sports bandwidth for HD.

Despite Comcast's whining, they could not support the NFL even today. They just don't have the HD bandwidth everywhere. Crap, Comcast doesn't even have its own distribution system. None of them do. They all use a third party.

Nor does the NFL want more than one provider. That gets them in trouble with their networks, where the BIG bucks are.

Sunday Ticket is big to DirecTV. It is peanuts to the NFL.
