Alas, finally we see the two channels not being in the exact same package. That's good news, as it seems that twc may be softening its stance in that from what was reported, which gives more hope to DirecTV picking it up.

The clock is ticking and Directv better get a deal DONE before the season starts.

Verizon Fios, AT&T U-Verse, and Charter are all available in most places where Directv is offered in residential areas in the Lakers DMA zones.

Directv is really going to bleed & lose a ton of customers over this the longer they hold out.

Sports bars and other business are going to lose lots of $$$ over this bull**** with Directv holding out.

The Verizon and FIOS adds proves that twc is not holding out with DirecTV because they don't want the competition. Still though, we don't know what they are asking from DirecTV as they are different than any other provider that has signed up so far.

Could this list be right as far as RSN pricing is concerned?

I don't disagree with the numbers, but the RSNs purchased ala carte would sure add to more than what we currently pay for the Sports Pak. Somebody with industry experience, please explain why that is.

Nice! I have TWC and AT&T U-verse in my neighborhood. I currently get my internet from AT&T U-verse. Hmmm, now it looks like I have options. I may have to check the U-verse deals.

If those numbers are right, they are likely only talking about in market. Out of market RSNs generally cost a lot less. There is no way DirecTV pays yes the same amount for someone that lives in Portland Oregon as it does for someone who lives in New York.

I'm actually shocked DIRECTV is holding out. Clearly TWC is willing to play ball. I think the bottleneck is quite obvious. :nono:

They are offering a $200 visa gift card for new customers who sign up.A problem though that I've heard is that AT&T says it takes 6 to 8 weeks to get the gift card and some customers on U-Verse message boards like on dslreports.com are saying they don't get the gift card at all from AT&T for some BS reasons where AT&T says they didn't qualify for the gift card.

Not true at all. This all started happening yesterday, and if they really are asking Directv for $4.00 for everyone that is also a sub to sports pack anywhere in the country, then I would have to say no too. We don't have enough info, and likely never will.

I really hope that the other deals that are obviously different from what TWC was reportedly asking for in the first place have paved the way for a deal with Directv now, and its just a matter of working out the fine details, which there will be a little more involved with Directv and Dish if they get on board as well.

You also have to keep the service for a certain amount of time to get the gift cards.

That wouldn't be an issue for me.U-Verse was pretty damn good and pretty close picture quality wise to D* for HD content.

Only downside with U-Verse is their HD DVR which only lets you record 2 HD shows at one time while the HR34 has the ability to record 5 HD shows at one time.

While I don't think that is the motive, it does not prove it. Comcast does not want competition in Philly yet fios has CSN Philly.

They couldn't possibly demand $4 for everyone because none of the other RSNs get the same fare for out of area customers, and more importantly, the big draw, the Lakers, wouldn't be available to those same out-of area subs. I'm am alum of SDSU, but even I wouldn't pay that much to see (pre-season AP 20th ranked basketball) Aztecs which TW is carrying some of its schedule.

Agreed;

I think the main sticking point is as COX stated a few days ago, its a lot of money to pay for what is essentially a only one team network right now. Even if the coverage of that one team is year around from every conceivable angle. Now if TWC SN had say the Dodgers as well or something it would be different.

But as it is at current, the Sparks and Galaxy don't really count (no disrespect intended). So its the high cost of the estimated $3.95/sub./mo. for just 53 guaranteed exclusive regular season games on TWC SN multiplied by possibly some 2 million DIRECTV subscribers in the Lakers' market which is mainly holding up the deal I strongly suspect.

I'm agree, but who knows. Maybe the argument is more about people in places like San Diego and Fresno, which are not the main area of Los Angeles but will get the Lakers games.

Then how do you explain Comcast SportsNet Houston? It has both the Astros and the Rockets (as well as other local college teams, and MLS). Granted - Houston isn't LA, but it's not Smallville USA either. It's the 4th largest city by population and 5th Largest DMA. More importantly than that both the Rockets and, more importantly, the Astros have statewide interest in Texas, parts of Oklahoma, parts of Louisiana, etc. Yet CSN Houston is still not carried. (granted baseball season just ended, so its just the Rockets, MLS, and NCAA for now).

My point here is that even in major markets where you are talking about a multi sport channel - they still don't do deals.

I think this is about ego and pride, and maybe a little bit of financials.

I assume you, no one is letting ego and pride get in the way of their money. :)

And the laker market has three or more times the population of CSN Huston.

Personally, I still think that twc is asking an extra high price to help hedge their bets if they get the Dodgers, and any other additional programing.

Is DirecTV the only one not caring the new CSN Huston station?
