Say it loud.

I can understand if no other carrier had TWSN. Clearly DIRECTV is the issue.

TWC:goodjob:Verizon FIOS

TWC:goodjob:AT&T U-Verse

TWC:goodjob:Charter Cable

TWC:goodjob:Cox Cable

TWC:goodjob:Bright House Networks

TWC:kickbutt:DIRECTV

Quite obvious DIRECTV is at fault.

Weird that you missed these

TWC:kickbutt:COMCAST (largest tv provider in the United States)

TWC:kickbutt:DISH Network (3rd largest tv provider in the United States)

So you're right, "quite obvious <fill in blank> is at fault.

Very good. 1080i HD. :)

Yeah, as I said its something about the peculiar behavior of the HR34 and its ability to pick up test feeds.

Nice, I'll bring a six pack and be right over.

Yes. The Lakers are getting clocked again, but I doubt David Stern and the boys want them to go 1-4 so I'm sure the zebras are going to bail them out.

On Saturday I said next week, that was 4 days ago and you guys are already panicking. Nothing is guaranteed in this industry. Nothing. Do I still think they will get a deal done before the week is up? Yes. Is it guaranteed? No. Nothing is in life.

The remarks I read here continue to just make me laugh. I've explained why these deals are so much different than the cable deals but apparently it goes in one ear and out the other.

Another useless troll post by a DIRECTV FANBOY.

Just because someone doesn't fully blame DirecTV doesn't mean they are a fanboy that doesn't believe DirecTV can't be at all at fault. It just means they aren't going to be ridiculous and think that twc can't be at fault too and that people shouldn't just outright say its all dtvs fault because another provider came to terms.

I hope you are not a fan of the other sports in Los Angeles, because I wouldn't be surprised if twc gets the Dodgers, and then try's to play major hardball with FOX and even drops fsn west and prime ticket for a good amount of time, if not permanently. Starting this network to help control their costs on RSN fees only works if they get lower prices and or drop other RSNs.

I blame DirecTV for not drawing the line in the sand a long time ago... But these days, its everyone's fault. I am pretty sure based on things that have been said in releases that twc thinks their channel should get the same price for any sub in Lakers territory, and I'm sure DirecTV wants to pay a different price for people in Lakers territory but outside the Los Angeles DMA. How on earth anyone can equate that concept of others getting a deal done and therefore its all dtvs fault because they should take the same deal is not realistic at all.

I think Mike White ought to set the example and immediately pull 100% owned and controlled Root Sports NW, Root Sports Rocky Mountain, and Root Sports Pittsburgh off of the normal tiers and put them in the sports pack and require all of us subs to pay more for these channels.

Mike White is asking everyone else take a hit on it's sports channels, but then feels its appropriate to keep his company's owned and operated channels in the regular packages.

I get his point that costs are out of control, but then he needs to be consistent and lead by example rather than complaining of everyone else. Because of contracts in place he cannot move channels, but he can do that with his company's owned channels immediately.

That's right, Mr. White is completely inconsistent and mouthing off at everyone else, but ignoring the obvious; integrity is obviously not Mr, White's strong suit.

Root Sports isn't collecting the same rights fees, not even close. Secondly, those deals were done before Mike White stepped aboard DTV.

My guess is that you don't know Mike White or what issues he has nor doesn't.

what is the same? Hey, its a sports channel and since he sits on both sides of the contract he can move them to any package he wants and lead by example. Doesn't matter a deal was done when he got there - he's on both sides of the contract.

White wants everyone else to take a hit, but won't take a hit himself.

Yep, I don't know Mike White and neither do you so what is your point?

I agree with Mike White that the costs are getting out of control and sports needs its own tier. But unless he gets every provider behind him for support, he's fighting an uphill battle that he will ultimately lose. Just look at what happened with the Versus dispute when he first came on in 2009.

Do we know that he lost with Versus? Yes, DirecTV and Versus ultimately came to a new agreement, but I do not think it was the same agreement Versus (actually Comcast) wanted when Versus was pulled. DirecTV might not have ended up with the agreement they wanted, but they did end up with something that was better for DirecTV than what Comcast originally demanded.

He's not going to change the industry until he cleans his own house up first. Seriously, he's saying, "I want you to move to a Sports Pack.....but Mike, you have your own Root Sports in the tiers....I know Mr. RSN guy, but do I say, not as I do..."

Then is Mike White also going to pick an issue with ESPN? ESPN is apparently the highest cost channel of them all.....lots of people could care less about the channel, should ESPN be pulled out as well? It's not a stretch by any means.

Bottom line is that right now other providers have figured out a way to put Lakers channel in their base packages and have found a way to put Pac 12 in their base packages....but not Directv....and Directv charges the same or more, so how can this be? The new motto for Directv should be "We'll charge you the same or more, but we'll give you less!"

By next football season Directv will take a big hit if it continues w/o Pac 12 when everyone else has it. LA customers may give them until the holidays....it's a hassle to move providers, but people find time around holidays to be home for a bit more....

He wanted to put it in the sports pack, Comcast said no but we will give it to you at the same price but you keep it in the same package. This went back and forth for nine months. Ultimately it came back in the same package. So you could say he lost that one.

Does Comcast cover any of the La Lakers markets?

Re Dish, Dish is the cheapo option, but I'd dare to say that, before Dish got Pac-12, not a single person was with Dish because it has a nice US-based sports lineup - Dish's strengths are international channels and, to a lesser degree, movie channels. And, as I said before, Directv pre-Mike White was the indisputable sports champion and people would pay MORE for Directv than for any other provider. But if Directv is now joining Dish in being cheapo, that doesn't really bode well for the renewal of the local RSNs....

On the other hand, these "leaked" tests of the Lakers game in HD on 9732 wouldn't be taking place if TWCSN and Directv weren't talking, so that's good news and it may really mean both sides are getting close to finalizing an agreement.

Excellent point WebTraveler. If Mike White is serious about controlling costs on local RSNs, being Directv CEO he should lead by example and move all Root Sports RSNs in the local markets to a-la-carte or the sports pak.
