To little to late IMHO. The should have never stalled their rollout. i am literally three blocks to far away and it makes zero sense why they stopped where they if you understood my neighborhood. zero. They still don't have video service in my area, and I just dumped them for charter Internet since AT&T speed was 6 and charter is around 30 for less money a month. I'm still debating on video for the Lakers games, I'd prefer twc get cox and charter streaming access so I didn't have to get video.

IPTV which is what U-Verse and Verizon Fios is still fairly new and just started becoming available in residential places about 5 years ago.

Like any consumer tech service a provider right off the bat can't and won't reach their full potential.Simply not happening. Which is why AT&T plans to improve their infrastructure and services.

You are in the LA or SoCal area which Verizon dominates and owns most of the ILEC up there. Which is another reason why availability for U-Verse services & performance may vary in different parts.

Fios is not iptv. They have reportedly tested it but they are still linear.
LR: HR34-700, H24-200, Fios DVR, BD350 Blu Ray, Roku Netflix Player, Chromecast, Sony 65w850 TV
BR: HR21-200, Viso 32LX, DB350 Blu Ray
Dish: Slimline, SWM8
Other: genieGo

Again, if you understood where I lived and how the area is set up, its just flat out poor planning on their part in the first place for not getting my area. They basically left off a five square block area at the end of their territory. Had they positioned the vrads slightly differently, they would have likely had the exact same number of vrads and full coverage. They had even thought they had done it right for the people across the street from me. It was only after three days of trying to get the signal right that they finally figured out they had screwed up.

Gotta do whatcha gotta do, man. DirecTV above all others understands sports fans are passionate --they built a whole business model around it.

Luckily, the universe has a sense of humor, so you leaving will pretty much guarantee D* will make a deal shortly thereafter. But someone has to be "that guy", so might as well be you.

 so true

Again, if you do decide to switch, please do the rest of us a favor and let DTV know that this is the reason why you are switching--hopefully it will help them eventually get the message!

That's the plan Stan.

Did anyone have any luck getting NBA League Pass on Directv watching the Lakers without any blackouts with the away teams?

Example: Lakers playing Dallas and watching the Dallas feed.

I think he should just cancel if he isn't under contract with D*. Reason being if he decides to come back say in a year or so he would be eligible for all of the promos and whatever new HD DVR and HD receivers they have in the future.

Especially if he currently has older D* hardware.

Both home and away feeds are blacked-out in either of the local markets of the teams playing on LP.

Sorry ...

If its of any consolation though;

Since tonight's game is also carried by NBA TV (ch. 216), while the live telecast will be blacked out of course. They will allow the replay to be re-broadcast in the LA market tomorrow at 9:00 AM PST.

So don't forget to set your DVRs ;)

I know ... small consolation, but given DIRECTV's stubbornness these days, Lakers fans like me stuck with the service will take any crumb off the table I can get from DIRECTV to see the games. :D

This 9+ year DIRECTV customer has drawn a line in the sand. This Friday if we don't have TWC Sportsnet I will be calling AT&T U-Verse. I originally was thinking TWC, however after researching, I feel AT&T U-Verse is the better option for me. I already have their max speed Internet.

Some explaining is needed.

The maximum speed internet is the 24/3 package. The maximum profile rate for a U-Verse connection is 32/5. Through this profile, all services - being internet, voice and television - must fit. I am going to dismiss voice, as the bandwidth for it is so minimal it will not affect anything.

A U-Verse HD stream takes roughly 6 Mbps. Which means that if you watch ONE television on HD (or record ONE program), this 6 Mbps is subtracted from the profile rate. 32 - 6 = 26 Mbps. So if you only watch ONE stream, the entire 24 Mbps will still fit. It gets fun when you watch TWO HD streams. (Or, record one, and watch another channel in HD. Then there is only 20 Mbps left for Internet. Television always outweighs Internet, so your maximum internet speed with just TWO HD channels tuned in in your house is 20 Mbps.

If you have a family, and THREE or FOUR HD streams are active (say you are recording 2 programs, you are tuned into the Lakers on a 3d stream, and your wife who hates sports is in the bedroom watching an altogether different channel in HD.... you would only have about 8 Mbps left for internet, even though you are paying for a 24/3 connection. Or think of any combination with the amount of televisions you have. And if someone doesn't turn OFF their tuner box, but only the television.... (like many of us do, my tuners are always on) the channel will still be tuned in and thus affecting the downstream internet.

My neighbor got so fed up with turning off tuner boxes around the house when the kids were out and his internet didn't get past 8 Mbps, he finally threw a DirecTV dish on the roof and gave AT&T the middle finger.

This is the BIGGEST reason I will never have U-verse TV and Internet at the same address.
[Disclaimer] The definition of "soon" is based solely on DirecTV's interpretation of the word, and all similarities with dictionary definitions of the word "soon" are purely coincidental and should not be interpreted as a time frame that will come to pass within a reasonable amount of time.

I am the Stig.

Not an issue in my household. My wife is a Laker fan. :D Plus, even if I replicate your scenario, 8 Mbps is plenty fast to surf the web.

I just took a screen shot from my AT&T router, looks like I have more than the 35 profile you mentioned. (Unless I'm reading it wrong) See pic. Looks to me that I have 53+ available.

Also just wondering what type of D* hardware do you have currently? In terms of HD DVR and HD receivers.

And also with U-Verse if your into gaming they have G4TV channel in HD.

Yes I know the story on why D* decided to drop that channel.

But I like having the channel available on U-Verse without having to be on their highest U-450 plan.

Me - I am going to follow the Clippers and NHL hockey when it returns hopefully this year.

Welcome aboard! Clips games are worth watching for Lawler and Smith alone. Whether they have a good team, or whether they have a bad team, like they did for so many years, they're always entertaining. Oh me oh my!

I'm in a similar situation with Verizon. They stopped their rollout a few blocks away, but they claim it's because of the poor wiring in this area. I don't doubt it as we live in what's considered the "historic" part, and many houses here are 100+ years old, but it does suck. I'm stuck with 7MB DSL with Verizon. Charter's not even a possibility with their laughably bad caps and high prices.

I wonder if you can't get a discount from DIRECTV to offset your needing AT&T for the Lakers channel.

You can. I got about $40 / month off. Various discounts that they call a different name but still saved cash because I had to go get alternative service.

Any real gamer hasn't watched G4 in years after they replaced most shows with Girls Gone Wild informercials and Cops 2.0. Whatever few gamer viewers G4 might have left will be gone by the end of the year after they cancel XPlay and Attack of the Show.

No, that is the datarate. Which means that if AT&T ever comes up with a higher profile, it can be deployed on your line. The maximum profile is still 32/5.

Keep in mind by the way, that if you call on Friday, your install date will probably be 2-3 weeks out at best. So you actually might as well call TODAY if you want U-Verse this MONTH.

Yo,
I have 1 HR24-500, 2 HR20-700

Not a big gaming dude. But I did notice U-verse has H2 and Cooking both in HD. Both a hit for the wifey. ;)

Oh ok, I wasn't 100% sure. Yeah, last I checked the next install date available was the 28th.
