Right ....

But it wasn't my idea ... :sure:

Yeah... no, I wasn't blaming anybody for it. I just realized that WTLZ-DT2 was listed as being HD... and while it went HD OTA recently, I was under the impression that it was still in SD on DirecTV, so I put 2 and 2 together.

I thought it was cool... wanted to see if I could figure out how to use it, so I checked the data for channels from three markets, and one virtual channel.

It's still mostly Greek to me of course, and I'm probably going to lose sleep over why "E1" was listed in the results for those two channels and not the other two, but now I have a (very) basic understanding of how to read parts of the data anyway.

I'd like to see Go Beavs try it now.... :D

What would you like to see and I'll try to work on it tonight? :)

I was working on a spreadsheet this AM to convert some of those hex values to decimal but the hand parsing is a bear...

I just figured it might help verify the 9 HD channels on a TPN. :D

okay.... my apologies ahead of time. I am not sure if have the correct part of the stream that you guys are asking for... remember the issue for me is whether the listing of transponders (103S transponder 1) for network #602 Huntsville AL is correct or not. so here goes... no flames please....this is the string after the second group of FFFF...and I am guessing I should have redacted even more of this...

Let me know what I did wrong.... thanks in advance....

Ok, got some stuff missing at the start;

But the first series marked in red appears to list the Network ID of "000E" for 14 which means the channel is coming from 103(s) and the Transponder ID is "45" for 69 which puts it on SW1 tp. 1.

Second series I X'ed out and colored in red is your access card number so you should delete that.

Signal Strength in boldface appears to be "4F" or 79.

May want to repost the string again (with the right omissions :) this time) though to be sure of the readings and didn't you have another channel on tp. 3 you needed to check?

Please, restrain from posting full string: posts#153 and 154 will give you and him what is need to post.

Just use Notepad/Wordpad and separate each value to own line, then pick only ch/net/tid/ss only.

Yep. three of locals are on transponder 1, the other two are listed as on transponder 3, so I will post that string when I get home tonight.

Thanks so much. You guys are great!

It was just trying to make it easy on him until he got the hang of it P. Smith;

Yes I realize the hex string should be properly parsed and edited to remove the CAM, RID, time and particularly those 18 meaningless zeros for the ROM and STS versions before posting.

Okay I am hoping I am getting better at this... spared the wrath of P Smith... Here is my parsing of the hex string on locals I believe to be on the second transponder listed as 103S SW1 Transponder 3; so if I have parsed the string right I have substituted XXX for what I think are the cam (access card) and the rec id....

So, what I am hoping to learn is what the hex string reveals as the transponder number. I don't see how my Network 602 Huntsville AL Fox 54 A3 local can be on transponder 3 because the signal strength i get there is 51... shouldn't be a good picture, yet my picture is great. That was the whole reason I started this nice little discussion we have had is to learn what is the real transponder. Without you guys I would not have gotten this far. Thanks much.

That's what expected to analyzing - see the example http://www.dbstalk.c...5&postcount=141
ch	net	tid	ss	note
0036	000E	49	??	<your notes>

You gave TID=73 what is equal logical TPN=3. Now try to restore SS value - you did cut it out.

4Fh = 79 decimal. It's good enough signal. Why you keep telling us you have 51 on tp3 ?

When I look at signal strength of sat 103(s) Transponder 1-8; number three shows 51. Same reading on multiple receivers. Go figure... I do get a reading of 79 on transponder 4.

Your receivers are liers. :)
At least on SS screen, because you're watching the channels without issue and the same receiver reported the level at 79 via control cmd.

Oh ! I have other thing to test with you: go to SS screen, but select just one - the tp3 not whole set.
