Yep, we're about the last in the entire USA to get this. If we ever do!

Nah, Bend, OR doesn't have them yet either.

Well...

I had a little hiccup in getting up the change to the Columbus/Tupelo, MS market yesterday, but it's up now.

I'll need to update the DMA standings soon, but I'm going to be busy a lot this week, so it may be next week until I can update them. I could find some free time... we'll see. :) In the meantime, just keep in mind that they are not necessarily accurate.

I both like it and hate it when a local channel carried in SD only accidentally has an HD tag... don't you?!

The bad news: Bend dropped -4 slots in last years Nielsen ratings. The good news: Bend moved up 1 slot in the 2013 Nielsen ratings just posted.

Last year's -4 bomb probably cost you a year delay. But it looks like you are back on track again.

The Directv website said '...to launch in 2012.' Well, there is not all that much of 2012 left.............

Bakersfield DMA http://www.truckads....rsfield.htm#map

And according to this spreadsheet http://www.dbstalk.c...728#post3088728 the DMA is around 226,000 - nowhere the numbers that have been posted.

EDIT: Map I posted is incorrect. That seems to be multiple DMAs rolled into a single "market area".
Try this one http://bhmediastrate...ketdata2011.pdf
223,000 TV households.

So per Brighthouse Kern County is at 827K people, that sounds about correct. If 80% are in the Bakersfield DMA that would be ~662K people. Divide that by the 223K households and you get 2.97 persons per household.

Sounds pretty accurate to me.

Well then Lafayette, LA is pretty inaccurate. They only have 550,000 in their DMA yet have 229,000 households and are two higher than us on the list.

By the way, the population of Kern County was over 850,000 in 2010 and it hasn't been shrinking. Bakersfield's DMA is well over 750,000. East Kern County is in LA's DMA with the biggest city being Ridgecrest at around 20,000. Everything in the western 2/3rds of the county is in our DMA.

Any new word on when they may be coming? I heard 2012, but I am having my doubts.

No 'new' word. The 'old' word, on directv.com, lists you for HD Locals launch in 2012. So you have a 16 week window open in front of you. But historically, there is lesser activity from Thanksgiving through the end of the year, so you are realistically looking at some time in the next 11 weeks.

Alan.

Minor note: on July 29, 2012 WSAH (NYC market channel 43) changed their call sign to WZME, reflecting their new affiliation with the ME-TV network.

Thanks! I updated it...

I also corrected the other listings of Me-TV (they were listed as MeTV).

Sigh . . . another football weekend, with all network college games and Sunday night NFL only available from DirecTV in SD. Hope Monterey HD locals will emerge from testing before the season progresses much further but am prepared for disappointment.

My heart is with you. I am sorry. I know it is taking forever (that is the opposite of 'soon').

Being in TEST mode is not a bad thing. Far better than not being in TEST...
