When was TVland, Teen Nick, VH1, MTV2, and Spike taken out of the choice package? I just noticed it today when looking at what channels each pagackage gets today. I have choice extra so I still get it but it looks like people with choice dont get it anymore.

Looks like these might have been taken out of choice when the Viacom dispute ended.

I also noticed it too when I checked it on D*s website. I don't get it. These are basic channels. Why are these channels moving to the premium package?

Maybe it was part of the new deal?

D* needs to recoup the money somehow.

D* is slowly moving toward the cable model. On our Mediacom system, you get basic cable that brings you the local and public interest channels for one low price. You want other channels? Pay, pay, pay.

Before long, you'll see the same with D* and probably E* as well. The shopping channels will be on the lowest-priced tier. The channels you want to watch will cost substantially more.

Probably part of the deal.

You want us to pay more for your channels? Fine, but we'll put them in a package that gets us a bit more money to compensate.

My guess is that people who had Choice will find it is now called Choice Classic, and they should still get those channels.

Have we confirmed that they really aren't available? I'm asking because at one point the package comparison told me I didn't get the Audience Network...

From when exactly? We downgraded to Choice like 2 weeks ago. Is this going forward from here on? Nevermind, I guess it was effective immediately with the new deal.

Choice extra isn't a premium package. I can only hope this means they will not raise choice prices next year, and maybe just raise choice extra and above. Granted I have choice extra, but it still would be nice.

I guess it all depends on how one defines "premium". I (and apparently inkahauts) define "premium" as the packages like HBO, Showtime, the Sports Pack, ESPN Full Court, etc. Others (which apparently includes KNPKH2ster) define anything above the lowest priced package as "premium".

If that's the case, choice is also a premium, since they have packages below choice. ;)

Did you not know the Cooking Channel and the Science Channel are PREMIUM channels? :D
