How did DTV notifiy us about these new hurricane coverage channels? I found out by reading an SBCA smartbrief newsletter sent to my email address.
I would have thought that they would have made some use of their mostly useless message feature that shows up on the taskbar when you hit the info button.

There were banner ads stuck in the Guide last night and this morning they are not there.

Thank you very much D*TV for dedicating channels to the storm. For us in its path, having channels totally dedicated to the storms progress was invaluable.

Thanks, for some reason they were not showing on my HR24. I am on the HR23 now and they are on. Probably a setting of some kind that I have set.

Favorites? Banner ads are tied to channels adjacent to them. If you hide the ride-along channel, you won't see the banner ad.

On my setup, using a Custom-1 guide list the banner ad only shows up on the space after ch-101, which is not a portion of the guide that I visit often, if ever.

I agree it's a great service, but they need to do things much differently. They flip stations too fast. They cut off the mayor mid-sentence about 3 times that I could count, and the audio levels on WWL were about 30db too low. They'd constantly cut out in the middle of a compelling interview no matter what station was being shown.

I've got alot of years into broadcasting. If I ever cut the Mayor off, I'd be hanged. Why not put the most compelling coverage on two different channels. In this case, WWL on 325, and FOX8 on 349.

Dont really care about the hd feeds. These are temporary and the info gets out. And probably a lot more difficult to set up.

I believe this is a really great idea. As others were saying I do believe they change stations far too often. I believe they should dedicate a block of channels for this situation. For example 785-790 local hurricane coverage channels.
This way we can have each local station on a channel or even stations from different markets. Depending on the storm.

When a tropical storm hit my area , va beach, I was able to get better signal on 325. My local channels kept losing signal due to hight winds.

I'd be a bit surprised if they do.

Why would that be??

DirecTV is usually QUITE GOOD with stuff like this....... I thought the networks they had on 349 were quite informative..... (I dunno what happend to channel 4's audio level (a couple days in) but you could barely hear them!!)
