Saw a slate this morning during the morning show warning that FOX 8 might get pulled on 9/1.

From FOX 8's web site...

A dispute with DirecTV could knock your favorite programming off the air this weekend.

If WJW Fox 8 does not reach an agreement with DirectTV by 12:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 1, by law, DirecTV cannot carry this station on its system.

DirecTV and WJW Fox 8 are in negotiations for fair compensation for the programming we provide..

If you are a DirecTV customer, and we do not reach an agreement, you could end up missing out on some of your favorite WJW Fox 8 programming.

What can I do?
Tell DirecTV you DO NOT want to lose WJW Fox 8. Share this post with your friends on Facebook and Twitter by using the Sharing tools above.

I thought at one time WJW was owned by Scripps-Howard but if that was once true, apparently it is not any longer.

From Wikipedia (so it's gotta' be true)...

WJW, channel 8, is a Fox-affiliated television station in Cleveland, Ohio. WJW is owned by Local TV LLC, a subsidiary of private equity firm Oak Hill Capital Partners.
Never heard of these guys that own the station now.

They've been through a few owners since then, quite a few

Back in 1994 NewsCorp swapped their CBS WOIO Ch. 19 affiliations for New World Communications owned WJW Fox. NewsCorp owned and operated WJW until 2007(8) when it sold to this bunch that runs it now.

When NewsCorp WJW, it was much better, had a powerful digital signal (Ch. 31 I believe, not 8 like it is now) and didn`t run local news 11 hours a day. (How much do you think goes on around here anyway?)

Well I moved away from Cleveland 12 years ago...when Dick Goddard was only 80.

I guess I'm remembering clear back to when I used to watch Hoolihan and Big Chuck on Friday night. I think they showed the Scripps-Howard logo at the sign off of the 11 O'clock news right before H&BC started..

I remember the WJW/WOIO affiliation swap shortly after the FOX network started up, I guess I just wasn't aware that WJW became a FOX O&O station...or it just didn't sink in.

I created a central topic for the Local LLC TV Dispute:

[Disclaimer] The definition of "soon" is based solely on DirecTV's interpretation of the word, and all similarities with dictionary definitions of the word "soon" are purely coincidental and should not be interpreted as a time frame that will come to pass within a reasonable amount of time.

I am the Stig.

Scripps-Howard owns WEWS Channel 5 and has done so since the station's begining.

FOX sold WJW and several other stations to Local TV LLC, which is affiliated with Tribune.

From Directv Promise:

We are pleased to have reached an agreement with Local TV LLC that we believe is fair and equitable for our customers, who will continue to enjoy Local TV-owned channels without interruption. We appreciate our customers’ patience as we worked to successfully complete this agreement.
