Based on the 1st post of this thread...(CI Price $171.80/42.95x4), this price of $14.99x4 means you get nearly 60% of the season48/82) for 35% of the original price. That's not a bad deal. Yes free is better, but until we see what other systems do.......

HR21-100 HDMI to 32" LG and 20" AOC

It's also better than the NBA did last year. They barely discounted it, but packaged the mobile product together to make you feel like you got a better deal.

Does the NHL do the same thing, or will I have to decide between Center Ice and Gamecenter? Sometimes I want to watch games on my tablet, which Center Ice of course can't provide (until Directv provides a slingbox type box like Dish just announced)

Yup, $59.96 for the half season. The normal price in other years was $79.99 I believe.

If it's true about other providers offering it for free, then this is not good news for DirecTV subscribers.

FAITH: I find the lack of it disturbing.

Opinions are my own but should be those of all Americans, who would be much better off intellectually, psychologically, and emotionally if that were the case.

There haven't been any reports to suggest that it will be free with any provider. I believe Satelliteracer even mentioned that free wasn't on the table with the league. Providers can't just decide what price they want to set.

According to their website NHL GameCenter is not free...according to the FAQ CT residents will have to pay sales tax. Not sure why only CT residents. :scratchin

Since it costs 2.4¢ to produce a penny, my 2¢ worth is really 4.8¢ worth.  That 4.8¢ is my own and not the 4.8¢ of DIRECTV, Dish, or anyone else for that matter.

If they are connected then I'll consider it.. Would be nice. If not GCL and Fios is a better deal for myself. At least that way I'll actually receive my local team.

I think thats incorrect. Even SatRacer is saying itll be 4 payments of 14.99, or 59.96 If its 60 ill pay it..if its 80 ill be calling retention for a discount.

I am not trying to be a jerk, but after all that has happened and higher rates only way I will renew is if I can get NHL CI for 60.00 and free GCL.

It is a ratio. Doesn't matter how many there are. If you make the price zero based upon sales for next year, the only way you break even is if half would dump a pay service. Not exactly, of course, but the order of magnitude is about right.

So you have no idea how much it would it cost the NHL in dollars to give all NHLCI subs a free season.

I think it would cost less to give everybody free NHLCI for this season than one day of the lockout cost the NHL.

I have news reports of local business in Phily and PIT each losing a $1 million for every game not played. Hard to imagine what the costs are to every NHL city. A lot of mad owners and employees.

Also read news report of the damage done to the NHL brand. They did survey for the corporate sponsors of the NHL "in order to show what they need to tap into with hockey fans if they hope to regain their former good standing."

The survey was done in Canada.

It's results said "A disastrous map would be the one Level5 created following the BP PLC oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010. It was the worst the company had seen – until it got around to the NHL this month."

If Canadians have turned sour on the NHL,hard to imagine the damage in the USA.

I think the cost of giving us free NHLCI is a drop in the bucket, for what the NHL will spend to rebuild it's brand.

Yeah, I saw that. Tho don't forget the NHL is the only major sports league to ever lose an entire season over this stuff. I think re the above that a lot of people were "anticipating" and emotionally protecting themselves against a repeat of that.

I think the fans will be back, tho personally I resolved to not take CI this year to make my displeasure known. I cancelled my auto-renew back in October. Maybe next year. I do expect my local RSN to have all the games for my primary team not on national TV. My secondary team (grew up with them) is the Pens --and I'll do okayish from national games with them anyway. I'll just miss a few Pens games I would have otherwise watched, and some "keeping track of the opposition games".
