You sure about that? I was on the phone with them quite a while, and went up the food chain through technical support. They were pretty clear to me that in NJ I would need a dish upgrade.

Not arguing, but you seem pretty sure of yourself....and so did they!

You may need a new dish but you would need it if you lived in Arizona. Dishes only get special in the far north (like Alaska) and in Latin America. Maybe they meant cause you lived in the USA. the directv satellites are sitting central to the US. Dishnet requires different dishes because their satellites are not all viewable by all of the country.

In some locations, local channels require the 5-LNB dish. People in those areas, therefore, already have the necessary dish type to receive the Spanish channels. People in other areas will generally have the 3-LNB (99/101/103) dish and therefore need a dish upgrade. Location does matter in that sense.

This is getting off topic, though (like a lot of stuff in this thread).


I agree with that but it s still the same dish anyone can get. Very few places need the 5lnb unless they want foreign programming. Emphasizing New Jersey is silly.
