why is there a 239-1 channel

I believe it is an overflow channel for football.
DirecTV since '96, Waivers for ABC, CBS, NBC, & Fox, HR23-700 & HR24-500/AM21, using ethernet based MRV.

but why is it on a sub channel of AUDIENCE NETWORK

Audience Network is showing Big Sky conference games on Saturday afternoons that air on Root Sports.

According to http://mattsarzsports.com, audience is carrying some games Root Sports has rights to.
