that was his response to a comment i made. its nice to know. my problem is he doesn't say when the new hd will be here. it could be next month or sometime next year.

There are only two (national) HD channels now that I REALLY want... one of which I don't really expect anytime soon (though I'm not as skeptical as I used to be), and another which I feel stands a decent chance of making it this month. Those channels are CW HD-DNS and TV Land HD.

TV Land On Demand now has some HD content, so if they offer their original content in HD on there, I'm good until the linear channel comes along.

The CW recently struck a deal with Comcast to offer HD VOD, so my HOPE is that maybe DirecTV will offer the same "soon".

Would I prefer linear channels? Absolutely, but DirecTV's recent addition of HD VOD to TV Land On Demand has somewhat lessened my sense of urgency for the channel.

With this year's additions, and the new VOD developments, I think my main interest will be in seeing my HD-LiL improve (ABC-HD, and CW-HD added when available).

Downloaded an HD episode from TVLand VOD. Very good quality. Hope we see the HD channel soon, along with LMN, HLN, ID, H2, etc......SR mentioned more HD is coming and I believe it will be sooner rather than later.

Some of the CMT/MTV2 content has the same VOD listed twice.

I also noticed that HDNet Movies now has an AXS.TV logo on it...

Huh!

Enjoying AT 250 HBO,

This is good news on multiple levels. Nice to have the HD VoD at all, of course.

But as someone else pointed out upstream, it almost also certainly means that D* already has the rights for linear channel HD as well on these, when the resources become available, which the new encoders probably mean will be sooner rather than later.
LR(non-CE): HR44, Mits 65C9; Office/FR (CE): HR22-100 + AM21, Mits 60737 + Mits 3DA1 3D adapter. Spare bedroom (non-CE), HR23. Genie WHDVR, wireless networking (yay!)

I would like the Military Channel in HD, too; however, it does not exist yet. Before DirecTV can add it in HD, Discovery Comunications has to create it in HD. That one is beyond the control of DirecTV.

NEW HD VOD content:
1567 Palladia (New VOD channel, ALL content is HD)

Updated post in my signature also. Should not come as a huge surprise considering the amount of new HD VOD content being added from Viacom owned networks. Also I am not seeing TNT VOD at all, although it might only be down temporarily.

List of networks with HD VOD content available on DIRECTV  DIRECTV Customer Service Live Online Chat (available from 7am-12:30am ET)  DIRECTV Regional Sports Network (RSN) fee lookup tool (zip code required)

DIRECTV Premium Channel Pricing: 1=$13.99 ($17.99 for HBO) | 2=$25.99 ($30.99 with HBO) | 3=$36.99 ($41.99 with HBO) | 4=$45.99 ($50.99 with HBO) | All 5=$57.99 per month

My Setup: 5-LNB SlimLine with SWM-16 | HR44-700 w/AM-21N | HR24-200 | H25-100 | H25-100 | C41-500

G4 is no longer relevant. We'll have to see how the new channel goes next year.

H2 needs to go HD. There always seems to be something good on it every time I check it but I don't watch it because it's SD.

If you have a decent internet connection, check out their VOD page. The programs you're interested in may be available in HD on it.

VOD is viewable on your TV.

On your HRxx, go to H2 On Demand on channel #1271. Nothing but HD content...

Noticed a new software update on my HR22-100 early this morning. Any idea what the update was for?? Thought maybe some new logos (230,264,289,304,639 etc) would have been added, but no such luck.

Since I originally sat down (Jan 2010) and figured out what HD channels I would still much like to see added D* has added 4+5 (AMC, WGN America, BBCA, TCM + my 5 Rochester, MN LiLs - just today!) and deleted 1 (G4). So one way or another they have addressed 10 of 14 in nearly 3 years. Pretty good. Getting so close!!!

My remaining HD desires (in order):

RFD-TV
IFC
Outdoor Channel

and for the Mrs:

QVC

Kevin

My top 5 wishlist: 1) Free MRV HR to HR 2) Fix Channels I Receive so that it is accurate 3) > 50 SeriesLink 4) Usage of both internal and external drives concurrently 5) Support for other video providers as DoD (i.e. Hulu, CBS)

DirecTV HR21-200, 2008 (DirecTV anniversary gift)
DirecTV HR20-100 (2TB eSATA), 2007
DirecTV since 1995
