Anybody know if it is linear (LPS) or switch mode (SMPS)?

How many taps? Could I replace it with an external linear supply?

Thanks.

I'm sure it's a switched-mode power supply as a linear would be too bulky. When it comes to consumer electronics typically the only use for a linear power supply would be in audiophile applications.
