So my hdd died in my DVr. I don't currently have another receiver. In the old days of my hr20 I ran a xternal drive. Is there a way to boot and use flash drive as storage device? Currently fails on self check of external storag device. Hdd is pretty loud.

No way to use a flash drive. Internal or eSATA are the only options.

Is it the eSATA that died? If so why not use the internal?

No. I was using the internal. Gave away my external when I got the 24. Now I have no dtv for several days. No big deal. Just trying to make something work.
