Well, B&S Satellite (Henderson, Michigan: (989) 723-1138 if anyone needs anything--he may even have a 921 I think) came out as promised and set up my SuperDish.

I have my locals and while the PQ isn't the best (a bit pixillated here and there I notice) it's better than Cable's fuzziness. We'll see how it looks when I have the 60 inch screen--I may opt for the 921 and pull in my HD locals with that for the channels I can.

B&S put me on a waiting list MONTHS ago for the SuperDish. While DishNetwork scheduled me for Feb 18th, B&S remembered me and when he got a shipment in he scheduled me in under a week. So I have my Locals now almost a month earlier than Dish.

I gave Steve (the man from B&S) any equipment I wasn't going to use anymore--the old Dish 500, some old switches, and an old 3000 receiver. Could I have sold some of this stuff myself on eBay? Sure--but maybe he can use it or sell it. I know the retaillers are getting the short end of the stick on this SuperDish upgrade deal kinda, so if I can help him out, why not.

He'll be installing my dad's SuperDish later this coming week, and I know he'll do an excellent job.

Question, about what signal strength should I be getting on spot beam 121 transponder 7? Could my pixillation be improved if I got stronger signal?

Dave

121:
T7 is 55
T8 is 49
T12 is 61
T13 is 70
T14 is 69
T15 is 50
T16 is 51

Dish is telling me it could be a grounding problem.

My installer said he's stop by and check everything, but he says it's not grounding. I agree.

All the transponders on 121 that are transmitting, i.e. all the ones you mentioned plus a lot more that I have checked on mine, I get a signal anywhere between 72-86 depending on which transponder. I am certainly no pro dish installer but if it were me I would double check my dish aiming and perhaps the skew adjustment for the 121 lnbf

hmm - surely not the best :(

that is why actually some people prefer separate Round dishes - say 36 - 40 inchers.. for those new birds.. rather then having all in one fancy superdish :D

Also wonder if he installed it (peaked it.. ) - the best way possible ..to get you maximum strenth all over...

He just stopped back (good guy!) and said it may have slipped a bit when tightening it. He managed to get me those 70 to 80s on those low levels now, and while my 119 slipped a bit--100s to 80s or so, it has to be a bit of a mix because of where things are, I think. He repositioned and tightened again and things look better now.

I still see some pixillation but I think now I'm LOOKING for it, you know.

Here're the new numbers:

121:
T7 is 80
T8 is 59
T12 is 73
T13 is 75
T14 is 82
T15 is 72
T16 is 70

I'm getting low 80s to mid 90s on 119, and Low 70s to UPPER 90s on 110.

We could have probably played with it a bit more to even things out even more, but I have a tree I need to trim for some of this, and it's also -2 with the windchill. I just didn't see keeping him outside any longer when it all looks normal now. It was good of him to stop by so soon as it is.

All in all, it's looking like Dish always has. So I'm good.

I know I'll crab once I get my 60 inch RPLCD. ;-)

Question for folks who know... ideally, what should I expect from a SuperDish trying to see 3 Sats?

And am I just noticing pixillation now and it's always been there. (I really have to look for it I think.)

And am I spelling pixillation right?

BTW: If you check signal on Tp 28, it should say wrong sat. They have had it up for over a month, but they don't seem to be interested in putting the system tables on it. :)

Hope you are enjoying the Rotana Music Preview. :eek2:

And non-kosher one...

For example - eat eggs and bacon on occasion, etc :D

I was religious as a kid, but am an atheist now. So, mmmm...bacon. :-D

Never got a taste for mixing milk and meat tho. ;-)

Ok, I think this thread is off track now.

Correct..

I noticed as well - that Milk and Meat is not the best combination out there ...
Usually try hard to avoid mixing those 2..

To bring this thread back on track, the locals are looking pretty good and I'm pleased for now about their addition to my Dish package. We'll see what I think once I get my HDTV. I'm sure I'll desire a 921 or something and an antenna to bring in HD Locals.
