Does Dish not offer a locals only option for $9.99 anymore? A friend of mine still has this but when I asked they said they didn't have it. Also, the website says locals are $6 a month with non-qualifying package. What does this mean?

No they do not. Currently the lowest priced package you can subscribe to is Welcome Pack which is currently $14.99 per mo. but is increasing to $19.99 per mo. on 1/17/13.

That sure is a lot for a low cost basic package. I thought that is what the Dish Family now Smart Pack used to be.

Sadly, bound to happen as long as networks hold the power. I've always found that relationship odd, as imo the providers should have the power, as they offer the audience/viewers.

As long as the networks don't have to deal with customers on the customer service end though, I don't see this changing. :nono2: People can change providers, as they have a selection. People can't change networks for exclusive programming. Networks know this.

If they had a solo receiver without dvr, and nothing else, then its just the price, even if that receiver is HD. Well, plus tax. There really aren't any mandatory fees. Just those for additional features. ;)
