So Gary;

While know you and others are in the process of trying to make sense of this all. If I'm reading this much correctly so far, the two new 24 transponder sets of DLA-1, "PAN nets 3 and 4," are in turn divided into four "subnets" (is that the correct term?) each of "DLA1-31 through 34" and "DLA1-41 through 44" respectively corresponding to each regional beam?

So any guesses what that might mean? Are there 6 transponders per these subnets or something?

Please remember; at this point we have only conjecture.  However -- You are intuiting very accurately.  It appears that each PAN Net will cover a wide geographical area, i.e. North or South.  Then within each of those two Pan Nets we should have a subset of networks, where each of those subnets is more accurately a Regional Net.

stay tuned...

Updated Latin Network Decoder

Attached is the new version of the Latin Network Decoder as it will appear with the next posted Latin Excel

Also attached are two Signal Strength screen photos.  The photos are from a STB in Colombia; other areas may vary.   I am waiting for an update of the display for the Southern area - Chile or Argentina.

Yikes Gary!

So now what was thought to be a filled out Beam Sur of 16 transponders is showing only 8? And Beam Oeste is back to15 again with transponder 33 instead 25 N/A this time?

The new PAN net. 3 has gone from 24 to 16 and no mention of PAN net. 4?

Totally lost on what to make of this.

I think this is just the first incremental change, with many, many more to come.  But I agree, this is not at all what I had expected.

If I can get a screen shot of the Southern Area Signal Strength display, we will have a little better idea of the architecture.  I expect PAN Net 4 TPNs will show up there, in the South.

Wrong Again.

Attached is a yet-newer version (since yesterday) of the Latin Network Decoder.

Also attached are two Signal Strength screen photos from a STB in Chile.  While there are differences in the Transponders available in the two areas, the Beam Oeste and Beam Sur components are very similar -- and PAN Net 4 makes no appearance.

Thanks to egakagoc2xi for all this information - my hero !

And yes, the assignment of some countries to the 'north' and others to 'south' areas are purely my guess.  Don't use the term 'region' - that appears to be reserved for coming sub-divisions within the larger 'PAN' areas.

I am sure we have many surprises still ahead...
