Hey Gary;

Minor questions here;

I see not since the 8/13 TPN map are you labeling that strange "150" code seen (on the customer end anyhow) in the Network ID string of the receiver diagnostics as for 103ca on the Net. Decoder sheet.

Changed your mind about it?

And do you think DIRECTV is simply mislabeling the transponders used by the Puerto Rico ODU test channels (9507 and 9509) as "even" as seen in the notes when they are actually odd ones. Tp. "3" on SW1 and Tp. "5" on SW2?

I also find it strange PR would only have ODU test channels for one tp. polarity on each Spaceway when two are used on each bird for that market.

Note; I'm also getting another new code number of "81" in the Net. ID string following the Market ID now, but only on the Genie. Though I heavily doubt it of course, I guess it won't hurt to ask if anyone has a clue as to what that might be for?

Not important mind you, but inquiring (if not just nosy?) minds always want to know anyway .... :)

Maybe the Net 150 / Net 81 stuff is some sort of internal RDBS testing via D12?

Maybe the Net 150 / Net 81 stuff is some sort of internal RDBS testing via D12?

Could be, but the 150 has been around for a long time now and always seemed more related to Net. 15 in some way. Possibly as a way to distinguish its two 500 MHz A and B band structure. The thinking is for a clue to this is how the numbering will change when D14 becomes operational. If a Net. 100 appears next to Net. 10 in the string then we'll know this is what it's indicating for sure. As of right now though there is noting in the system tables to account for a Net. 150.

As for "81" .... it only appears on the Genie's diagnostic screen, so I don't know what it could be about.

You have very sharp eyes, HoTat2.

If you recall, Net 15 was associated with D10 CONUS - ie 103CB.  Net 150 was associated with D12 CONUS - ie 103CA.  But those associations only show up in the receiver data, not in the transmitted data stream.

I initially updated the Network Decoder to show those two Nets, 15 and 150, because I fully expected to see that same data split forthcoming in the system information.  But that has never happened.  103CB and 103CA are both still in CONUS Logical Network 15.  Since it is the Network data we work with most frequently, I reverted back to showing a single 103W CONUS Logical Network #15.

If there is a change ahead, we can expect it when we first see the D14 system data.

If you go to Directv Uruguay blog again you can see there is a video from Directv to their technicians explaining about these testings. It is in Spanish.

http://dtvuruguay.bl...atelite-de.html

Hey z3r3lk;

On another issue, some questions about the presentation given for the new LATAM LNB (SF6-LA) given on the Uruguay blog.

http://dtvuruguay.bl...iw=1006&bih=582

The spectrum analyzer display of the Channel Master alignment meter posted for the SF6 looks almost identical to that of the older predecessor the SF4 LNBF.

Yet, in the specifications of the SF6 it uses a 13.1 GHz L.O. to convert the satellite high band downlink frequency range of 11.450-12.2 GHz.

So therefore shouldn't the positions of Beams Oeste and Sur be inverted in the S.A. display since the L.O. is injected on the high side of the incoming band as opposed to the SF4 which uses a 10.5 GHz L.O. injection on the low side of the band?

Older SF4 LNBF;

Older SF4 LNBF.JPG

New SF6 LNBF;

New SF6 LNBF.JPG

Also if the high band L.O. is indeed 13.1 GHz, shouldn't lower band on the left extend below the 950 MHz lower limit set on the display to about 918 MHz?

(That is 13.1 GHz - 12.170 GHz the highest tp. center freq. of Beam Sur - 12 MHz to the lower edge of the tp. pass band)

Could the high band L.O. perhaps be actually something like 13.15 GHz?

OK, thanks Gary;

Any thoughts on my other question about the Puerto Rico ODU test channels?

A very un-scientific guess:  The records for the 9507 and 9509 Puerto Rico entries were copied from the records of their D11 and D12 counterparts.  On D11 and D12, these are, correctly, 'even' TPNs.

I would guess the engineer adding the new PR records simply neglected to update the 'Notes_1' field.

Yeah, sloppy.

Gary,

This theory could explain the 2 "mystery" TP?

For a pictorial presentation of the DLA-1 transponder layout with my graphic additions may aid in what's possibly going on with the new data except for the single transponder of the new Beam PR which is on G3C;

DLA-1  Possible Transponder Mapping.png

Although the regional TPN sets I labeled the new Nets. 3 and 4 may be the opposite. Its hard to tell.
