Universal Sports isn't even carried by Comcast, Time Warner Cable, or ATT Uverse, among many others. Fox Movie Channel is carried by all of the major outlets.

And since we aren't asking for it on Comcast or TWC or AT&T or fios, the non-viewers there mean nothing. How many directv customers watch it/want it. That is what matters.
LR: HR34-700, H24-200, Fios DVR, BD350 Blu Ray, Roku Netflix Player, Chromecast, Sony 65w850 TV
BR: HR21-200, Viso 32LX, DB350 Blu Ray
Dish: Slimline, SWM8

Not very many. You will be getting Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2 in HD soon, that should be enough for the sports fanatics.

They should all be added eventually, but Fox Movie Channel goes to the head of the list.

speed and fuel which is what will become fox sports 1 and 2 are already in hd so that doesn't count there is a lot of things that are good on universal sports and that needs to be in hd who else regularly shows bobsled, luge, skeleton, and skiing. those events need to be in hd.

If I were NBC, I'd be making noise about showing weekly Barclays Premier League matches on Universal Sports starting next season, along with their other NBC Universal outlets.

The prospect of EPL games on Universal Sports would really up the "anticipation level" for the HD feed.

Great point, I would not enjoy watching Man U in SD again!

Your list.

I want both but universal covers a lot of sports others do not.

Prove your assertion that FMC is more popular with directv customers, which is all that counts. It may be but it may not.

If lots of people watched Universal Sports don't you think it would be on Comcast, Brighthouse, Cox , Time Warner and Uverse? Let's get real.

The providers will be "convinced/coerced" of its value leading up to Olympics.

If you stop responding to them or put them on ignore, then eventually they'll go away.

Not necessarily. Remember, universal was a sub channel until last year.

But I see. Directv should let Comcast do its market research.

I think they will do their own. So far, they have judged it to be worthy to be on their system. We wait to see if they think it should be HD.

Until January 2012, universal was available on many systems as an OTA subchannel.

Fox Movie Channel should take priority over Universal Sports. It is watched by more people and is more important.

How is watching movies with the same ending no matter what channel they are on takes precedence over a live sporting competition channel.. You have over 30 movie channels already to watch movies on can't you watch BATMAN RETURNS On Showtime too?!?!

But Universal Sports shows more programs that are not available in the US through any other source. All of the movies shown on FMC are, have been, or will be available in HD via other sources.

Back in October, 2012 Philip J. Goswit, DirecTV Senior Vice President for Space and Communications said all standard-def channels would be converted to HD by 2016 using local-into-local Ka-Band capacity.

I don't see why they couldn't have everything in HD by then once D14 and D15 get launched.

Not that I expect OuterMax HD . . .

I received in today's mail a statement from DirecTV.

According to the "Inside DirecTV" mailer: During the weekend of Friday 03.29.2013 to Monday 04.01.2013, we will be given a "FREE Trial" of both HBO (ch. 501–"512") and Cinemax (ch. 515–523).
