Maybe the engineers have been busy getting Puerto Rico HD up and now has time for some new CONUS HD?

My WAG is this week or next. They waited until Sunday Ticket came down. Also, create a positive buzz while dealing with fallout of increasing prices.

Just a guess, but I tend to agree with you. Hoping for new HD at least by the end of Jan.

I had pretty much stated my wishlist during the last week of the 4Q 2012 thread, but here it is again for the 1Q 2013 thread.

MY WISHLIST

  • CW HD-DNS (channels #394 & #395)
The channel(s) with the most hours of weekly programming that I watch, still SD-only on DirecTV.
  • TV Land HD (channel #304)
The channel with the second most hours of weekly programming that I watch, still SD-only on DirecTV. Thank goodness for HD VOD...

While I'd LIKE to have multiple other channels, including The Hub, Chiller, Cooking Channel, Fox Movie Channel, if I could get the channels listed above, I'd be pretty much satisfied with their national channel lineup for the time being.

On the locals front, my local affiliate of The CW is supposed to offer some sort of HD feed this year, so my hope is that DirecTV will pick it up as early as possible... Thankfully, my local wishlist was cut in half since the beginning of the last thread...

The 2013-14 NFLST season will start and end well before DIRECTV 14 is up and running.

It still amazes me that people are utterly unswayed by the fact that Chiller HD doesn't exist.

It exists now (or believed to be anyway)... hence why I mentioned it! ;)

A couple of small time cablecos apparently carry it... besides them, I don't know.

One in the Spokane, WA area, and another in the Topeka/Wichita, KA area.

It appears that NBC distributes Chiller on AMC-11, transponder 24, where it is listed as an SD channel. Anyone carrying "Chiller HD" is likely simply upconverting the SD feed. Without an HD feed on a backhaul satellite, we have to assume that it does not exist.

I think you're right. There's nothing on Chiller TV's website, Facebook page, or Twitter feed about being in HD yet.

I'd like to see this one in HD too. Chiller TV better figure it out soon. :)

Since it costs 1.66¢ to produce a penny, my 2¢ worth is really 3.32¢ worth.  That 3.32¢ is my own and not the 3.32¢ of DIRECTV, Dish, or anyone else for that matter.

It's very possible... but it's an odd occurence that two (I'm assuming unrelated) cablecos list Chiller HD in their lineup...

He's referring to the local Time Warner Sports Channel in Ohio that mostly airs local high school sports, some college sports via ESPN Plus and sometimes used as the designated sports overflow channel for FS Ohio. I doubt that will ever happen unless they get the rights to a pro sport. Most of the regional Time Warner Sports networks are just cablecasts that are created at the headend.

They had a joint press release and there was a banner in the guide for it.

I have a bunch of auto-records setup including one for "Agatha Christie". It caught some stuff on Cinemoi that my wife enjoyed (even in SD).

I took a peek at Cinemoi the other day, and it said it was 720. It looked like very HQ SD or somewhat poor HD.... So, I dunno what it broadcasts.

I don't think it is 16:9 but it is HD. My guide comes up narrow on cinemoi. Maybe you are thinking of Baby First. That is 16:9 SD and my guide comes up full screen on it (I'm using original format.)

I'm not aware any MPEG-2 SD channels (Ku band) that are 16:9 on DIRECTV. They are all 4:3 I think.

Cinemoi (MPEG-2 SD/Ku band) is always a 16:9 image, but letter-boxed into 4:3.

Baby First is 16:9 SD, but its MPEG-4 on Ka band.

Cinemoi broadcasts in 16:9 SD, it just isn't being presented that way by DirecTV. They aren't capable of HD yet.

Okay. The clarification helps.

But in the context of what we get on DirecTV, it is 4:3. Remember, this is a DirecTV forum. ;)

They may list it that way, but unless NBC-Universal is sending it to them, and only them, via terrestial feed, they are just upconverting the SD feed from AMC-11 and calling it "Chiller HD."

After looking through all the North American satellites on Lyngsat I can find no "Chiller HD" anywhere.

Wasn't there several instances of DirecTV getting channels prior to people knowing they were available?

I'm extremely open to the idea of this channel not existing and this being a mistake, but I'm not convinced either way....
