I say give us everything in HD and make it ala cart so we can pay for what we want to watch and not pay for things we dont want.

I've never watched Fox Movie Channel but seeing some of the movies on the channel lately it seems like a channel I wouldn't mind seeing in HD. Are the movies they show uncut and unedited?

Since January 1, 2012, Fox Movie Channel (which airs old 20th Century Fox movies uncut and without commercials) airs every day from 3:00 am Eastern/12:00 am Pacific to 3:00 pm Eastern/12:00 pm Pacific, with the FXM (FX Movie Channel) block (which telecasts newer movies (not just from the 20th Century Fox library, but also from the film libraries of Columbia Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures, Touchstone Pictures, etc.) with some content editing and commercial breaks) airing during the other half of the channel's airtime.

That is not always any bargain. When we had C-Band you used to be able to buy it ala carte or by the package, by the time you picked out the services you wanted it was sometimes more costly than just picking a package that had the channels you wanted in it. The reason being you pay more for the individual ala carte channels than you do for the same channels already in a package.

The higher ala carte cost is because it takes less time and costs less for program providers to assign a setup package to a receiver, than to go through a list and assign them one at a time.

“We felt that that brand carried over nicely back to the original brand in articulating that this was going to be a contemporary movie block as opposed to a classic movie block,” says Chuck Saftler, executive vice president, FX Networks and general manager of Fox Movie Channel.

(snip)

“Part of this was, let’s commercialize it, let’s take some contemporary films, let’s bring in advertising to support the initiative, become Nielsen-rated and try to grow the network,” Saftler says.

"Let's commercialize it"? Go run News of the World, Mr. Saftler. And take your damned commercials with you.

One more commercial-filled, hopelessly-edited, trashy old movie channel. That's OK, just fewer channels to scroll through in my soon-to-be-edited guide. No need to waste valuable HD bandwidth on this mess.

Thank God for TCM and HDNET movies.

Didn't you read the article? They are putting on newer movies some of them real blockbusters, not just the old 40 year old movies of the past.

If you own a DVR, there is no such thing as a commercial interruption anyway.

We want Fox Movie Channel in HD. No more games, no more excuses.

Yeah but they are editing for content and time which makes the FXM block of movies un-watchable in my opinion. :nono2: I'll stick with the premium HD networks or rent the Blu-ray before I will watch a movie butchered on the basic cable networks...

I just switched from Xfinity to Directv. Xfinity had HBO and Starz 3D programming on their On Demand. Are there any plans for Directv to add this to their On Demand lineup?

According to Sixto n3D was removed today?
http://www.dbstalk.c...902#post3183902

So were removing 3D to make room for something else?

Just when our local cable provider picks up n3D, DirecTV drops it!

Edited for content? What is your source? I hope not Wikipedia because they also have no source.

There are some people who hate any channel with Fox's name on it for political reasons. They don't like Fox News so they also don't like Fox Movies or Fox Sports.

Again, what is so cool about adding commercials where there were none before. Don't give me that DVR crap. Commercials are still interruptions especially when the programming is not built for commercials (e.g., theatrical movies).

Oh, give me a break. Not everything is about politics. In fact, Fox entertainment is quite liberal. Ever watch their shows? Many of them are hated by the Christian right.

And since Fox themselves said they were edited for content, you want to stop your uninformed rant?

They hadn't had anything on there since the summer olympics anyways so no big deal to me

n3d moved to part-time a while ago, and recently removed from the guide, but didn't really free up any space since it was part-time.

Oh I didn't know. I remember seeing the big billboards driving to and from work for N3D on Service Electric Cablevision.

I don't have a 3DTV so I'm really not up on what kind of 3D content is actually out there.
