When a channel is added to TEST is there a way I can tune it in? I was happy to see several channels I've been waiting for announced in the HD anticipation thread and would like to tune them in now if possible.

Very good question ...

TEST channels are not viewable.

They are only visible to DirecTV for testing purposes with equipment that is specially authorized.

I will make this clearer in the announcement thread.

Yeah ... the HR34 used to have a bug in several versions of its firmware which allowed you to access test feeds through certain types of program searches, but it appears the DIRECTV engineers have pretty much found and eliminated it recently.

Unfortunately ... :D

Wish they'd fix performance in my HR34. Quicktune = Slowtune, takes 2.5 seconds to come up.

Instead of tuning your STB to the test channels to check what is there, look at gct's thread, there you'll see some hints about these channel's content.
