I'm seeing the additions on the iPhone app also. I wonder if live streaming will become available on the PC through Directv Everywhere.

That would be a great idea. There are a few that are "anywhere" so it leads me to believe it has to do with contracts.

It's all about the contracts with those networks. One step at a time.

Is there any mainstream provider streaming major network programming outside the home?

Not slinging, real high quality content.

It didn't seem like anyone has the rights to do it.

I was receiving ION HD on Ipad app but now it shows a blackout message, maybe because it's not in my package anymore (HD I think) for Mas Ultra.

Well there are 3 different types of "streaming" that D* has:

1. Live in-home. Most content but most restricted to just being on your home wifi network. Currently at 70 channels.

2. On-demand out-of-home. Fewer content but can watch outside the home. I believe this is what is being branded as "DIRECTV Everywhere". Currently at 36 channels.

3. Live out-of-home. Least content but can watch those channels live outside the home. Currently at 5 channels.

It isn't a technology restriction that D* hasn't launched more out-of-home live streaming, it's the agreements.

Most of that is driven by the rights that can be agreed upon.

What are the 5 channels? Are you talking about CNN, for instance, which has it's own app which you use your dtv account to sign in with, and can then watch live? I'm not complaining, but it's kind of a pain if each channel is going to be a stand alone entity like that. OK, maybe I'm complaining a little. Anyway, what are the 5 channels?

There is a notice in my guide that the History Channel can now be viewed 'anywhere' not just in home. Has anyone tried this outside of the home?
