I have my HD34 connect directly to my Samsung 3D tv via HDMI. When I try to watch a 3D channel the picture is not full 16x9 but instead split down the middle into two side by side pictures.

Whether I try watching something prerecorded or live I get the same results.

This has happened right after the latest software update Direct did on my HD34.

Does anyone have any idea on what is causing this?

I saw this same thing. Om my Sharp TV's remote I have a 3D button that when pressed I can select to convert side-by-side to 3D and I then get the 3D picture. I would guess your Samsung would have something similar. Give it a try.

You should post in the issues thread.

My Panny is doing the same thing. I can change it to side by side in the tv menu.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I will give that a try. I do have a 3D button on my Samsung remote and will try it. However prior to the latest software update by Direct I've had my Direct HD34 connected to a Denon AVR1612 via HDMI then to my Samsung 3D TV via HDMI and it was working flawlessly, passing 3D through in full 16x9 mode. That is until about the last two Direct TV software updates. Since then, I've had nothing but one problem after another.

You should try going straight to the TV, the problem could be with the AVR.

samrs, Thanks,

I now have my HD34 connected directly to my Samsung 3D TV and just went and tried the suggestion that was given above, that is to push the 3D button on my TV controller, when the split screen shows up. Pushing that 3D button works and gives me a full screen 16x9 image. But why all of a sudden, having never had to do it before, should I have to do that now every time I go to watch a 3D broadcast. Makes little sense.

I've sent my Denon in to the shop to have it fully checked out so it is not connected now at all. I suspect that Best Buy is going to find that there is nothing wrong with my Denon and that instead its a software issue within the HD34 recent upgrade.

Its the HR34. I can move my HR24 to the Panny and it works perfect.

You should post in the issues thread with your make and model tv. Directv engineers will likely see it there.

I posted in this thread before I chimed in on the other thread mentioned here. Considering how niche 3D is (even if you have 3D you probably only watch it occasionally), this seems to be a definite bug and most just don't know it yet.

Love DirecTV on Demand? ISPs don't.

As you read posts claiming that OTA/ATSC is not important, remember that you are at the mercy of the individual stations and their negotiation status with DirecTV (not to mention missing out on subchannels). And these negotiations are not "one and done" but will come up every once in a while--and at that point you can lose your stations completely if there is an impasse.

I don't seen an issues thread, can you point me to it?
