My other was simply a response to your statement that while[B] original series may not be that driving force for you, there are alot of other people it is.

Not when the channel makes no such claim other than blockbuster movies.

The only reason you even care is because Directv doesn't have it, and you feel you have to make up some excuse on why they are smarted for not having EPIX.

That it. Just another excuse to try and defend directv.

Again over nothing!

I've haven't been a fan of the Network since it was was first created. Before anyone was announced as a carrier. I've been consistent in my comments about it all along. DirecTV isn't getting "smarted" for it either. It has very low viewership compared to other premiums.

I've never seen/heard of Epix prior to the Viacom issue. Hence, why I was asking about it. You should try toning down your attitude when someone is simply asking questions about the type of programming a channel may/may not have.

OK based on the fact that Epix is only 3 years old, and not 30 like the rest of the premiums, also not carried yet by every provider while the others are.
That tends to keep the numbers down. That common sence.

You don't need to pay a premium for an original series, every network and their mother have plenty each. And all of these non premiums series rank way higher the most of the premium channel Garbage.

HBO has about 3 worth anything, The rest nothing IMO

To have a movie channel with nothing but movies is a rare breed.

Three in your opinion, but there are more than three that are highly successful.

To have a movie channel with nothing but movies is a rare breed.

A dying breed. The others jumped ship long ago and went with the market. EPIX tried to fill a void and it turned out there wasn't much of a want.

Not if the original series you want is on a premium. Other networks moved towards original programming when their movie formula stopped working. EPIX swooped in like a VHS manufacturer offering a product in the heyday of DVD. A day late and a dollar short.

You know you have the option if Directv decided to carry Epix to not subscribe.
Right!

So why do you care at all about what customers who don't have the option want?

Yep, and if they don't care about Original programming , then why does it matter?

Movies didn't stop working, The nextworks you speak so highly of have a movie library so enormus, but yet choose to only play the same 50 movies day after day after day. Who wants that?

But these networks also play the same Series over and over day after day for 9 months out of the year as well.

How many Boardwalk empire series repeats do I have to watch over and over untill september? This is an $18 per month channel. And this what we get.

Just because a customer doesn't subscribe to a premium, it doesn't mean it isn't costing them something.

Epix has been rumored to want $1 to $1.50 per subscriber and placement in Choice package and above. Which probably equals around $16-$24 million per month ($192-$288 million per year).

D* is probably looking at it from the point of view of how many subscribers are we losing for not carrying this channel? Probably not enough to warrant that cost.

I've read surveys that show what compels people to add premium channels are the original series, followed by movies. So the series do matter...

Yeah, that is the rumor. But in the face of that rumor is that it isn't offered that way with any other service that I'm aware of.

On Dish Epix is either paid as a standalone mini-Premium or inside their BB@Home package which is similar to HDExtra on D*, but with way more channels. And it seems to be doing pretty well on Dish if comments about the BB@Home and Epix in Dish discussions are any indicator.

So why would they only want D* to have it as part of a base package? Just seems at odds.

The question is...why should D* add it if they are doing fine without it?

And Epix probably wants to be in a base package so they can increase their subs. The latest numbers I saw has them at around 10 million subs. The closest to them is Showtime with about 21 million.

Commercial accounts with ST, like bars & casinos, cover ST.
If you stop responding to them or put them on ignore, then eventually they'll go away.

Actually it's not as bad as you think. D* pays the NFL $1 billion per year under the current agreement. There's approximately 3 million subs (residential & commercial) that have NFLST. When you do the math that's only $333 per subscriber. Considering that commercial NFLST is way more than that, I imagine they either break even or make some money from having it.
