Just switched receiver in my bedroom from an H24 with an HR24 --- with my H24, I had the Component outputs connected to my TV, and HDMI out to a projector that is used sometimes.

I used to, with the H24, be able to use my TV from the component outputs, but now, with the HR24, it appears the Component output does not become active until I power on my projector, let it HDMI handshake, and then component output remains working even after it is turned off, so I assume it is not an HDCP issue (I only get "protection" errors on premium channels, so DirecTV is still not even using this on regular content on HR24s)

Any ideas why this is? Is it a "glitch" or should I get over it? Would purchasing a cheap active HDMI splitter to keep the HDMI "active" and "handshook" to keep component output active work?

EDIT: If a mod could move this to the correct Receiver forum, I'd appreciate it.

Yes, I definitely recommend going the HDMI splitter route vs. mixing HDMI and component.
