SECOND SEASON ORDERED FOR BBC AMERICA'S "RIPPER STREET" IN 2014

Posted Image

New York - January 29, 2013 - BBC AMERICA co-production Ripper Street has been ordered for eight more episodes, with the second season set to premiere in 2014. Ripper Street is produced for BBC ONE by Tiger Aspect Productions, Lookout Point and BBC AMERICA. The gripping series instantly struck a chord with audiences and critics alike, with The Hollywood Reporter saying it's a "well-acted, well-written and compelling mystery series" and the Los Angeles Times saying it "opens with chilling promise and ends on a decidedly modern note."

With stellar performances from the three leads Matthew Macfadyen, Jerome Flynn and Adam Rothenberg, writer Richard Warlow has created an extraordinary series set in the East End of London in 1889, during the aftermath of the "Ripper" murders. The second episode premiered on BBC AMERICA this past weekend and new episodes will premiere on Saturdays at 9:00pm ET/PT.

I liked it. It was surprisingly forensic for the era it is supposed to take place in, but that made it more enjoyable for me.

"But the freedom that they fought for, and the country grand they wrought for, is their monument today, and for aye." "This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave."

Grabbed me immediately and will continue to record and watch it. I am also glad the BBCA is running the uncut British version by making it 1 hr 15 min long with commercials.

Great show saw the first three episodes on the BBC website, I was hooked from the first episode. Love the writing and the "proper" English being used. My wife calls it proper I call it fancy.....

It is back!

With BBCA First Air Dates being out of whack, I'm not sure it really a new Season Premier.

Anyway, it will air next Saturday, 22 Feb, 9 PM on BBCA.

Yes, it was cancelled. But since it is produced in Great Britain, we are a season behind and they had already aired this upcoming season there. So we get to see it too!
