Greetings all,

if you are having problems with the new "Far in Advance" feature on your Genie DVR, I'd appreciate it if you'd take a short survey. The link below will take you to a Google form.

We won't be collecting any personal information but the information will go straight to the engineers at DIRECTV, I assure you.

Thanks!

The form should be visible below. If you can't see it, here's the link: https://docs.google....UZ21Ig/viewform

I sent off the form for the error message [This program may not record because this receiver is not currently authorized for it] I got trying to setup a series for CW 'Cult' that starts on 19 Feb. Even tho I wont know until 7 Feb if the series will schedule a recording on the WPIX channel in my area.

Same thing was about to happen with The Bible & Vikings as they were both schedule to record on HIST instead of HISTHD.

One report send in for both.

Screwed the pooch on Red Widow last night. Out of market channel I don't even get from DirecTV picked...(though I do get it OTA just fine) FIA picked the DirecTV channel 3, instead of OTA 3-1, or my satelitte provided ABC channel 13.

It has never picked the OTA channel for me, and I record all my locals from the HD OTA channel. What I do is use Far in Advance until it shows up in the to-do list, then I go in and setup my SL.

As long as "far in advance" keeps selecting the DNS network channel instead of the local, it's going to be pretty useless...

DirecTV's very own series "Rogue", on Audience, even with a definitive premiere date now, has yet to show up on FIA.

"Hannibal", NBC, finally showed up, so another good test dummy/point of failure program to use.

Other high profile MIA's while I'm here
Covert Affairs - USA
Royal Pains - USA
Burn Notice - USA (sydicated airings in the 14 day guide show up, but nothing FIA for USA)
Sons of Anarchy - FX
Franklin and Bash - TNT
Falling Skies - TNT
Hell on Wheels - AMC

(FYI Longmire, A&E, shows up "Coming: 12/31/2013" so it does go pretty darn FIA)

Well in the case I stated above it didn't choose a DNS station, it chose a DirecTV provided LiL (WEAR) for the market adjacent to me, instead of the DirecTV provided LiL I get (WLOX).

I just tried this on a 34 and it worked. Individual episodes show and there's a Series Premiere with (Coming Soon).
If you stop responding to them or put them on ignore, then eventually they'll go away.

Three days before a show airs is NOT FIA. FIA is 15 Days or Older.

Same here with Red Widow, it recorded the SD version. I find SD unwatchable and the VOD for it is only SD so I don't know what to do now. I hate watching SD.

There isn't really anything to "find." You see it in action when you do a search for a show that isn't currently airing, but is in the database as premiering at some point in the future; the HR34 will allow you to set up a Series Link for the show.

Use Smart Search for a future show like Hannibal.

Please note -- not ALL future shows make it into FIA database. I have no idea who controls the database.
