I appreciate Dunham's attempt to make unattractive girl-nerd Hannah's journey through quarter-life a quest for self-worth and self-fulfillment. But it works in context of a balance with the other characters, this should not be a virtual one-woman show. Moreover, her blatant attempt to sell herself as some kind of porn queen is grotesque and pathetic at best. She's clearly from the generation that got a gold star for just showing up. A more mature artist would understand balance and discretion. But she's just a kid with no experience or maturity in the field, and HBO handed her the keys to the candy store. The result is uneven and often appalling.

Probably true, tho. Your best line to date.
