Hopefully this isn’t a duplicate (looked but didn’t find the answer) but I just upgraded to a Genie DVR and now also get OnDemand. But, it seems that the shows are all standard definition and pan and scan. I don't mind the shows in SD so much but the P&S really bothers me.

Does anyone know if there’s any way to watch the OnDemand programming at least in WS format?

Thanks in advance!
Larry.

DIRECTV just puts out what the channels give them to put on the On Demand service. So if they get it as pan and scan that's what you're stuck with. There are a number of channels out there that do have HD on demand content, AMC, TVLand, BIO, H2 are some that come to mind.

See post My Setup for configuration info.

Yes! There has been quite a bit added in the past year, I keep a full List of networks with HD VOD content available on DirecTV (updated regularly) in my signature. Enjoy your new Genie DVR! :)

Note: I only track HD content not widescreen SD content.
